On my iPhone 6 I currently have the Urban Armor Gear.  I like the protection, but it is a tad bulky and I don't care for the feel/design of the back.

I got a Magpul last week but unfortunately the case was so loose that the edges would pop off corners when I pulled it out of my pocket.  Just curious what everybody else is using.  I don't need something super protective like Lifeproof or Otterbox Defender.

Otterbox Defender on my 4s.
The phone is near 3yrs old and still looks brand new even though it's been through enough to break two cases.

I am using the Slim Armor case from Spigen for my iPhone 5s. So far it has worked great. I have dropped my phone a couple of times and have suffered no damage.

Used a Magpul case(orange) for my 4, an STM case(blue, virtually identical in form and function to the Magpul case) for the 5, and then with the 6 I went to an Otterbox Defender(in blaze orange/Realtree camo, of course - which seems to be a very popular color for Otterbox). Can't use my 3rd party Lightning cable with the Otterbox, and it's quite bulky - but the iPhone 6 is damned expensive and a larger target for breakage than the older phones. So far the only one I ever broke was my original iPhone 2G, and that was because of the crappy belt clip on the case I had for it(popped off as I was getting in the car and fell into the door frame as the door closed). I did run over my 4 with a semi truck, fortunately it was empty, the trailer had Super Singles, and there were a few inches of snow on the ground - so I doubt the phone even knew it was being run over.

I don't have an iPhone anymore but I had an Otterbox Defender on my 3GS. It survived a drop in a ship's engine room down three decks onto a steel plate, probably 20-30ft or so. No damage to phone or case.

Same here.  I dropped my phone in a river while canoeing, found it an hour later in perfect condition.

ETA:  That was with the nuud, not the fre. It's much nicer to have the actual screen exposed.

I used a Lifeproof for awhile but a case on an iPhone ruins one of its best features to me....small size. I am going naked now, and it feels better.

Otterbox Defender on my 5s.  Still looks brand new after a year or so.  Had a 4s in a Defender for over a year and now my daughter has had it for another year.  Still looks like the day I bought it.

The Lifeproofs / Otterboxes made in the same factories on the same machines sans the brand mark and packaging have served me well.  They're all over eBay and iOffer for <$10.

You lifeproof guys, do the cases on the new iPhones, do they still muffle the sounds unless you open the charging hatch?

This one

iphone 5S

Very thin case that does not cover any of the buttons. Best case I found and I also bought from the ebay auction shown.

I originally bought same one from Verizon Wireless for $20 6 months ago ... got a 2nd iphone and found the exact same case on ebay brand new for a lot less $$

ETA

I don't use the clip / wrap around part ( its a complete second different part of this case. I just slip the phone in my pocket with the 1 case on it that has the small kick stand which comes in handy sometimes. If there is a better / thin protective case than this one ... I would have to see it to believe it

The phone snaps right in and fits very snuggly ( yet a cinch to remove ). It is very sleek and slim yet makes the phone feel very grippable in your hands. Easily slips into pockets as it is not rubbery.

I heard that as well about prior generation cases, was curious if the issue got resolved.

I went the other direction. I have a Hex case.  Good for reading one handed with the phone, holding credit cards, and not quite looking like a phone (more like a notebook with a leather cover.)

Doesn't protect worth shit, but has other uses. (Ok, it protects against some drops and a little bending.)

75% of iPhone users want to use a case.

87% of iPhone users use a case.

I'm part of the 13% that does not.  A ridiculous number of engineering man-hours have been spent trying to make the damned thing as close to nonexistent as humanly possible.  Ruining the form factor and usability with a case is like putting training wheels on a Tesla.

Americans are insulated to the actual cost of a modern smartphone by the shitty monthly payment plans foisted on us.  If every American had to plunk down the $700 a phone costs up front nobody would use one without protecting it, well unless you are wealthy enough to not give a damn when you destroy your $700 from a single careless drop.

My iPhone 6 is in an Otterbox Defender.

I have my old 4 laying around and it has not a single blemish on it from 2.5 years being in an Otterbox Defender.  And I bounced that fucker across concrete, dropped it out a deer stand, and the Lord knows what else.

I keep my Ipad Mini Retina in a Khomo case since it rarely leaves the house.

I have had several LP cases.  I will never own anything else, and won't buy something that they do not already make a case for.

I've so far been happy with this - good compromise between protection and lack of bulk. Nothing stops dust or dirt from getting in though, as the openings for the ports and camera are wide open.

Pelican also has a case I was looking at.
