There are plenty of smoking hot hookers out there.
There is no way I would marry one.
That's how these pictures make me feel.

California would be the best state in America if it wasn't for the political climate.

North Dakota?
California has 4-5 National Parks, including the first national park. I'd take Yosemite and Sequoia over any of those other states. Wyoming has one small area that's nice, the rest of the state is a barren wasteland. And I have been all over those states except KY and NC.

Beautiful place. Many other states are just as beautiful without the communism. NC, Kentucky, Idaho, Utah, WI, Upper Michigan, WY, MT, SD, ND and that's just a few.

"Just as beautiful"?

These places may have areas that might be classified as beautiful, I won't debate that, I think all states have places that are pretty, beautiful, however you describe it. But "just as beautiful," and I'd also add, the quantity and variety of beautiful . . . nope.

When I go through Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, there sure are lots of beautiful spots. SD has the Black Hills, which is a fascinating place, but the rest of the state is a pleasant flatness. ND I have no idea. NC and Kentucky are likely very pretty, but not the same variety and classification of beautiful. (Rolling hills are not the same as Half Dome or PCH or Avenue of the Giants.) Wyoming has some parts that are gorgeous. Same with Montana. Upper Michigan, I have no idea. Pretty lakes? Rolling hills?

It's just not the same. "Just as beautiful" implies that there will also be several National Parks, and the same kind of scenery, which there are not in those other states.

I'm noticing a trend with these pictures... wheres the people???

A lot of people say California should be devided into two parts.. north and south. I disagree it should be east and west

Awesome pics man.  Can you give me more info on the snow pics?  Where were these taken, what lake?  I'm in the Bay Area and usually head down to Big Sur to get my hiking in but I want to start exploring north more.  I need some snow hiking in my life.

Well it's funny he left out Colorado, we have 4 varied and interesting National Parks (Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Great Sand Dunes, Rocky Mountain, and Mesa Verde). We have a CRAP TON of mountains, half of our state is covered by mountains. Over 30 ski areas, millions of acres of national forest. Maroon Bells and the San Juan mountains are astounding and those aren't even in the National Parks. Compared to California though we don't have quite as stunning of granite peaks (we have 4x as many 14ers however) and we surely don't have any ocean coastline or Islands.

Colorado gives California a run for its money, but you're right, it doesn't have any coastline or islands. It doesn't have the variety that California has.

But Colorado is a gorgeous, gorgeous state, and anyone who lives there has plenty to see and plenty to be proud of!

I'd say that for any state—every state has lovely views. I take exception to them all being "just as" California, to the point where why would anyone go to California?

Thank you for posting the Colorado pictures—they're breathtaking!

California is the most beautiful state in the country. I love the La Jolla area. The contrast between So Cal beaches, No Cal, and the Sierras isn't matched by anywhere in this country.

If the politics ever improved, I'd move there in a heartbeat. I don't mind the people, as I live in Phoenix, AZ.

Gotta second that; I'm in La Jolla (SD) and the crowds here are pretty much non-liberal, certainly not in the negative sense of it.

But I'll agree, there are some incredible other states in the Union

La Jolla sucks.

Not really, just that it takes over 30 minutes to get to the damn freeway from the downtown area.
Love working there other then that.
