Checking out the yearly Vegas Trip one thing I have noticed is the resort fees have gone up quite a bit. Seems 30 a day is about average now.  I really would wish they would give the real price like the airlines have to do now

I noticed that.   $25 a day, just because, on top of the advertised prices

I found a place on the strip that doesn't charge those fee's..  I'll be there in a couple days (work)

Stayed at the four queens when we went.
No resort fees, no extra charge for internet and I enjoyed the old school vibe down on Fremont more anyways.

you either a high roller, have not been there for a few years, or went to the few places that don't have it.

Our resort fee was $25. I thought it was a gouge.

What the hell is a resort fee?

Full disclosure, last time I stayed on the strip was probably 2004.

it's something they add now, to the price of each room, per day, just because.
you can read more about it on-line.

I only just found out about it as I was reserving a room for my business trip,
I saw the
fine print and decided to investigate... that "low" rate wasn't so low after adding on that
special charge/day

i think they started it about 08 or 09.   lot of hotels make you sign an acknowlegment that you understand the fee.  too many people in the past were trying to get out of it by feigning ignorance.  i think the logic is that most people only shop on the price of the room and forget to do the math it sells more rooms.

$30 in government extortion is not causing people to shun Las Vegas.

Stayed in Vegas about a year ago, didn't have to pay one.

We stayed at a hotel and not a casino, that may have made a difference.  Nearer to my cousins away from the Strip.

The fucking hotels should just add it to the price and not mention a resort fee as currently it sounds like they are screwing you with just more taxes.

I am going to the MGM in June and the resort fee is $28/day.

I paid $20/day at the Monte Carlo last year for what was use of the exercise room, wired internet (really), a newspaper, and a bottle of water. I didn't use any of that.

There are only maybe a couple of hotels on the strip without resort fees and they aren't anywhere I would care to stay.

I prefer open taxes over hidden taxes. If all our taxes were out in the open people would have rebelled years ago.

Far as I'm concerned the whole place can dry up and blow away in the wind. Not my cup of tea.

Decent hookers still start at $750 on the strip, so there's that.

I hate resort fees.

You want to charge me something that I can't turn down? Put it in the rate.

The government has nothing to do with resort fees.

Caesars tried that and failed.  The market spoke clearly that they would rather be deceived than get an up front all in rate.  Consumers are the ones driving this trend.   The only thing that can stop it now is an FTC ruling or other act of government.

That's $30 a day on top of NV's 12% hotel tax.

Last time I went I got them to wave the resort fee by signing up for some players card or something. It was free and waved the fee just got a bunch of junk email. It was at a MGM owned hotel (Luxor)

The card makes a great emergency ice scraper.

Still not a tax.  It's just extra room rate and it goes to hotel, not the government.  All it is, is a clever way to obfuscate the actual cost of getting a room.

This is relevant to my interests(somewhat.). Might take the GF to Vegas in a year or two for a convention(her favorite author has a convention every year, at the Orleans.)

Sounds like Verizon's "Upgrade Fee." That pushed me over the edge to go buy a phone outright outside of Verizon. $100 for a phone, and $40 just for the opportunity to buy it from them? The phone really costs $140, and they don't want you to realize that.

Thanks God for comps then. I stay at Circus Circus a few times a year, they comp my room and some meals so at least that part of the trips is free.

I go to Vegas once every 3 years. For one reason.

Con-Expo. (Construction expo)

A week of looking at and running heavy equipment, drinking and shows. Cirque Du Soleil am best.

Never really notice the price tag because I get to write it all off.

I just bought a casino coupon book and the "savings" from that made up for a lot of the fees.
