A bunch of stupid in that story. I don't have sympathy for drunk drivers, but could you imagine the driver of that car? All because of "shotgun"?

So a dumb teenager acted like a dumb teenager and now her family is shattered and this is funny why?

My God... for all the stupid shit I, and everyone I ever knew, did when we were young-  I should have died a thousand times.

I have more sympathy for a turtle that gets run over.

She didn't dare Darwin, she went right up and kicked him in the balls.

I flipped the top lights on my unit on the other day and stopped traffic to help a stranded turtle, he peed on me and then tried to make his way back across the road.

Maybe not.  There was an incident where an idiot was popping a wheelie on his motorcycle at night,  and was hit by a drunk driver.  The drunk was initially convicted of manslaughter, but it was overturned in appeal because they were able to successfully argue that a sober person wouldn't have been able to see the biker either because the headlights were pointed skyward.

They may be able to argue something similar in this case.

Always place a turtle that is crossing a road on the side it is headed toward.

supposedly my county has training for police units of desert agencies to properly move turtles across the road...

I guess you have to pick them up, without turning them, and walk them in the direction they are facing so that the stupid stubborn things do not wind up walking back across the road to find their last spot as a reference.

Some stupid shit like that...

Meh...first comment on the article nailed it. A) shouldn't have been out in the middle of the road B) shouldn't have been drunk driving. Am I sad no, am I indifferent.

By 13 I was well aware that sitting in the middle of a road was a bad idea, no matter how much of a snit I was throwing.

Bad deal all around. This is the #1 reason to not drink and drive, no matter how well you think that you can drive. Even if a situation were unavoidable, the alcohol may likely shift fault.

I hope so.  Actions have consequences.  A drunk driver gets his for DUI and this bitch is dead due to her own actions.  Don't mix the two.

At 13 I was smoking cigarettes and watching snow filled porn on the Spice channel, not throwing tantrums in the road.

Well if we're picking sides, I'm going with the thirteen year old. She was a minor who made a really bad mistake. The driver was possibly drunk and may have been speeding by the description of how far the mother was thrown after contact.
