Tow it back the other way and see if you can beat that!

Not too bad. IIRC I got around 14 on the DIC with my 2011 stock Duramax while towing a 36' gooseneck with another Duramax on it. I figured 2 or 3 mpg less than what it showed, but I never hand calculated it.

What size tires? Ive found that my LB7 starts to really lose mileage above 1900rpm.

Depending on tire size 70 mph might be above 1900. I bet if you stuck to 65 you'd pick up a couple mpg even towing.

A number of years ago when we had our 2004 Durango with the 4.7L V8, we towed my sons loaded down Cavalier with a tow dolly, had the Durango fully loaded with luggage and 3 of inside along with the air conditioner running.  Went from Illinois to Denver and kept the speed no higher than 65 mph with it on tow/haul.  I averaged nearly 21 mpg.  I still can't believe that.

It's about 58 mph for the good mileage but I don't want to be that guy on the freeway.

As it was I was getting lots of dirty looks passing people going over the pass at a decent speed.

Its a Dodge thing.   A Cummins owner would tell you that he got 35 mpg on the same trip.    LOL.

No one else can believe it either.

Nah, a realistic 14.5 at 70. Closer to 16 at 60-65 with my loaded trailer.  Pulling real heavy, like at the limits is 13-13.5

It would very much seem to be a lie.  But somehow, I did it.  Mainly because it was mostly flat ground, great weather and I generally drove around 60-62 mph.  Took us too long to get there that way.

When I went out a year later to haul him and his car back we went much faster and got much less mileage.

Only Dodge owners actually think they get this kind of mileage... You sure you're not dyslexic?

I guessed 11.1 and you got 11.44:  what prize do I get?

I towed a Honda Civic from Houston to Dallad on a UHaul trailer in my '01 Suburban with the 5.3 gasser.  Cruise set at 65 in overdrive and I got 14.5.  I was surprised.

I make sure to only drive downhill, saves tons on fuel if you turn off the AC and shift to neutral.
