Should have towed the duramax with the jeep and gotten better mileage |

A number of years ago when we had our 2004 Durango with the 4.7L V8, we towed my sons loaded down Cavalier with a tow dolly, had the Durango fully loaded with luggage and 3 of inside along with the air conditioner running. Went from Illinois to Denver and kept the speed no higher than 65 mph with it on tow/haul. I averaged nearly 21 mpg. I still can't believe that.

DIC will show 18 or so.
Hand calculated is probably closer to 14. |

Does this mean you don't know the answer yet and we won't find out until you fill up... and that that may not be for a few days? Day 1 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Will be hand calculated, DIC is way screwy because of the tune. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Does this mean you don't know the answer yet and we won't find out until you fill up... and that that may not be for a few days? Day 1 I hate threads where OP makes you wait. |

17.87. Exactly. I get much better mileage at 60 than 70 with my lower gears. 22 vs 18. (Unloaded)

BTW if I remember right those trailers clearly say 55mph max. I'm telling

A Cummins owner would tell you that he got 35 mpg on the same trip. LOL. |

I used to get about 9.5 with a similar setup, but a much heavier Land Cruiser and an 01 Duramax.

A while back my buddy drove me to STl to pickup 3300# of Lino Type and his computer showed better mpg with the 3300# in the bed of his Dodge diesel then when we were empty, empty we were 22mpg loaded 23.5
