Hmmm...a look into our future? Obama took control of our internet yesterday and we now also have an "internet regulator" and the masses cheered

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/china-censorship-sweep-deletes-more-60-000-internet-113610173.html

BEIJING (Reuters) - Some of China's largest Internet companies deleted more than 60,000 online accounts because their names did not conform to regulations due to take effect on Sunday, the top Internet regulator said.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, Tencent Holdings Ltd, Baidu Inc, Sina Corp affiliate Weibo Corp and other companies deleted the accounts in a cull aimed at "rectifying" online names, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said.

The reasons for their removal included accusations of being misleading, rumor mongering, links to terrorism, or involving violence, pornography and other violations, the CAC said in a statement on its website late on Thursday.

The purge is notable as a step toward China's government locking down control over people's internet account names, an effort which censors have struggled with in the past, despite numerous efforts to introduce controls.

These failed attempts have included trying to force users to register for online services using their real names.

The new regulations, which take on effect March 1 and will also target real-name registration, were issued by the CAC, which was formed last year and given power over all online content, something previously divided between various state ministries.

I also wonder how long before a "Department of the Internet" is created, just like China, to oversee all of the new wonderful regulations that will be enacted for us down the line

Man, that's scary stuff.  The government can't keep it's grubby paws off anything.  I guess this will make it easier for the NSA to track everything.

I honestly don't think they have any trouble right now with that.

Who knows what is in that 322 plus page plan they refused to let anyone read I have no doubt it is going to be as bad if not worse than Obamacare is and its is just getting started.

I imagine it will not be long before you need a permit to create a political blog, forum, or news site and to get the permit you have to send in examples of the content, if is not in the best interest of the government that permit will either get denied or be indefinitely delayed.

If you lie to meet government standards to get the permit and they find content not in the best interest of the government no matter how factual you will lose the site, be heavily fined, your assets seized, even jailed for falsifying documents to the US government.

China has been the Progresstards wet dream.
They like to point at it in all it's shitty glory as to how a socialism can "work" for the masses. They will never admit they only reason China even came out of its perpetual 10th century famine ecomomy in the last 40 years is because of capitalists buying their cheap labor.
When there is no more capitalists to fund Red China they will wither and die, just as the same failed ideology has failed every other time it's been tried. China has been on artificial life support via the US consumer, which may be a rare commodity some day if the Progresstards have their way.
This too is why they need control of the information flow (internet) and guns...something we see them working really hard on here as of late.
