You know what , I wonder why those revenue men arnt going after all those politicians and beurecrats who haven't paid their taxes? why is it that?

[#14]
The Shifflett name around here is synonymous with country folk/rednecks. They are one of the original families to have settled here. The name is spelled a couple different ways, one F or two , one T or two. Every place has a family that may be looked down upon for some reason or another. This family tends to be middle-lower class economically, mostly toward the lower side and many newer families in the area look down on them because of it. They tend to live out in the country. They hunt and fish and drive trucks. Big deal, right ? The middle/upper class people of the Charlottesville/UVA area seem to have a problem with that. But they are just good honest people for the most part.

From the pictures, it looks like he was a guy who liked to hunt and liked his shine. Nothing wrong with either, but let's be honest, the .gov didn't go after him because the .gov hates freedom, or hates good guys, they went after him because he was manufacturing and selling alchohol without licenses and without paying taxes. Frankly, I find it outrageous there is a separate charge because he was selling moonshine while in possession of a legal firearm. And I don't think the penalty for avoiding some alcohol taxes should be felony. I'd also be willing to say maybe even making some moonshine and selling it shouldn't even be a crime. But no matter how nice a guy, he had to know what he was doing was currently illegal and that there was a government agency who basically owes their existence to arresting people for what he was doing. There's the old saying about what happens when you play stupid games... View Quote if there was nothing wrong with it, why is it illegal? If there is nothing wrong with it, and it is illegal, and the .gov is the entity that makes it illegal, how does the .gov not hate freedom? Further, why should you simply accept the fact that it is illegal to manufacture alcohol - a legal product - without acquiring a license and paying taxes? |

Prohibition is still on? And to my knowledge, you cannot distill anything without a lisense. Yes you can, but only in a quantity consistent with personal use. In VA I think it's no more than 1 gallon batch. There are quite a few places you can buy a hobby still legally, but the mash barrel only holds about 1.5-2 gallons of mash. |

I wont be back in general discussion. it's overrun with big talkin', no action, anarchists that feel all government is bad. (which is an absurdity) yes.
