I hope they kept the "sway like a big boat" feeling in turns.

Entirely too retro. If it's built, that car's destiny is to become king of the ghetto. They should sell it without wheels, lights, or grills because they'll just be changed out anyways.

im a big fan of the slabside Continentals, especially the sedans. I have a '63 that I'm quite fond of. So I saw there was potentially going to be a slabside type model for 2016, and was pretty disappointed, thinking it would just end up looking like an abortion like most of the 'retro' styled cars nowadays do. I'm sure a lot of you will think it still does, but I gotta say, I really really fucking dig this thing. My truck is past her prime, and I've been easing myself into the thought of buying a new car in the next few years. I'd keep the truck, but was thinking of a 4Runner or something without a bed for the daily driver. If the Continental actually ends up looking like this... I think I just found my future new car. I really really like it. The slabs are there but not overdone, the peak/crown trim is very similar to the old slabsides, and the front end just looks beautiful. Here's a couple pics I found of the rumored new Continental. http://i.imgur.com/6zUAfrq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/CtNe773.jpg No shit, if it looks like that, and is a rear wheel drive v-8, I'm buying one. RWD V8 luxury cars are the shit. Yes. Yes they are. |

This is what I am thinking. I'd love to see the straight body lines make a comeback though, especially if it paves the way for a proper looking GN and Monte Carlo. But it won't, and we are almost cetainly stuck with bubbly half-assed retro named junk. Also, Lincoln's current advertising makes me want to punch Matthew McConaughey in the face. http://youtu.be/KtTcg3sj-wA View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Used to be--may still be, that a Lincoln was not necessarily a Continental. A Continental was a variant, with its own name, based on a Lincoln.

Cadillac pretty much beat Lincoln into the fucking dirt with the CTS-V... Now Lincoln's trying to be the poor man's Bentley? The ctsv is pretty boobs, but I want a really big, comfortable, luxury sedan for less than 50k. This thing is my dream car, modernized. I cant imagine it costing less than 50 grand. Well, there's another movie I'm gonna need to see. I hated it. They had all this hype about it being a modern smoky and the bandit type car chase movie but only had a couple really short chases. I almost walked out of the theater. Quoted:
Months back it was mentioned on a Mustang forum that Lincoln is borrowing the new Mustang chassis, adding a few inches and making a 4 door Lincoln around 2017. Options will be the 5.0 and Ecoboost engines. No manual trans though. Supposedly this info came from an insider at Ford. But I'm anxiously awaiting to see this one. Sounds to good to be true. I just want a modern stripper Crown Vic with a coyote. Is that too much to ask??? |

Side view is obviously Bentley and nothing original…. I like how they extended the front fenders to achieve the look. They had to put an ugly screwed up front end/ grill on it to be different and avoid a lawsuit.
I like it except for that ugly grill. The front view sucks…… looks to "pinched" and out of place. |

that would be cool, but they will phuk up design before it hits production.
i also doubt they will do suicide doors |

Quoted: Here's how this goes down: Enthusiasts, bloggers, guys on Jalopnik, magazine writers, etc sing it's praises. "Ford MUST do this! It's the only way to save Lincoln!" Ford listens and actually makes the damned thing None of the enthusiasts, bloggers, guys on Jalopnik, magazine writers, etc actually buy the damned thing. Ford discounts the shit out of it, in a last ditch effort to move some inventory. Rental agencies and "people of color" with shitty credit buy them in droves, with questionable financing. Jack Baruth picks one up 10 years from now with 200k on the clock and writes a cool article about it. Lincoln no longer exists as a car company. View Quote |

Quoted: You do have some wire spoke hubcaps for that , right? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: You do have some wire spoke hubcaps for that , right? Sure don't. I couldn't tell you for sure after 1963, but they didn't come with spoke caps. The 64s and 65s came with ones that kinda looked a little spokey. I do have the factory hubs. Unfortunately, only two were in decent shape. One was ok, and one was pretty torn up. I was just about to pick up a set of 4 professionally refurbed (absolutely beautiful) caps and 1.5" white walls... But even MORE unfortunately... I sold the car last week like a fucking dickhead. I just got a great offer on it and decided to take it. I regret it hard already. Here she was with caps. And one a couple hours before I signed the title over. |

Ford - "Hey, Cadillac is hitting them out of the park, let's copy Chrysler!" View Quote I like it, but probably would never buy one. It's too "specific". Unfortunately, unless Ford comes up with one hell of a good marketing plan, and makes it an ultra-expensive, exclusive, low run production, it's going to be a favorite among lower middle class earners, and urban youth. Once a number of them are lowered, and seen painted purple with blacked out windows, sporting gold 22's, with a booming sound systems, the affluent and middle class will completely abandon the product. If that happens they'll run it for a few years, it will fail, and go the way of other nostalgic "specific" designs. |

It's probably a smart business move. It ended up with a less specific design, not retro, but still with a few retro features in the interrior. If they'd gone the other way, it was a cool looking car, but would have been relegated to a niche market, and specific demographic. ...cue Matthew Mcconaughey |
