I'm guessing he probably knew this too. Defense motion #1 will be to suppress the video as too prejudicial. ETA jebus my spelling is bad today. |

I would think Parker wants the trial delayed as long as possible. The entire incident is still a hot topic around here.

Delayed? Hell they moved the court date up. I had cases in county court delayed for two years on simple things like run a stop sign and DUI. The prosecutor moved the case up, Parker's lawyer is trying to get more time. Which is bullshit. Show up on original court date and request a new date. Him moving the date up from originally set is wrong. |

There was some confusion last week concerning the trial date for Eric Parker, as his attorney moved for a postponement that was not needed. The trial remains set for April 29.

Does anyone know if this former LEO is looking at a lengthy prison sentence? |

His own attorney doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer, the guy (Robert Tuten) is quoted in the article as saying Tuten said he was also "a little bit surprised" that Parker was being charged by both the U.S. Department of Justice while also facing a state charge of third degree assault. "He feels like he's being whaled on from all sides," said Tuten. Really, Counselor? That is your choice of words to describe the emotional state of your client? Words that actually bring to mind the violence your client visited upon a frail old man and make your audience think "Good, maybe that asshole needs to feel like he's getting 'whaled on' and see how he likes it!" Makes me wonder who actually is paying him, since he seems to be almost subliminally harming Parker's case. I'd sure hate to have that lawyer on my side. |

The officers admit they understand he doesn't speak English: "awww, he don't speak a lick o' English!"
Yet they keep giving him commands in English and fail trying anything else like gestures. That should help you understand that all these 'commands' they give are basically just patter for the sake of their dashcam and audio. It's just there to make them look better so they can say they went through the motions and look good to supervisors and possibly juries. It's like a magician's patter: it's just meant to distract you. |
