I just got a new 37mm Launcher(steel, hi-pressure version) and wanted to know about the idea of using the 12 gauge reducer and shooting  12 gauge shells through it?

Would it go bang? Or would I go boom?

Since the 37mm is designed as a flare launcher the 12 gauge reducer is designed to only handle 12 gauge flares.  Most likely it would go boom.  If it did shoot 12 gauge shells it would have to be classified as a firearm and be subject to all the laws.

That would create a short-barrelled shotgun or "any other weapon" wouldn't it? That would be a firearm with a capital "F" like in National Firearms Act.

If your launcher is the M203 type and locks shut like a real M203, I'd be a bit nervous about it holding the pressure. I seem to remember the latch was about 1/8 inch thick and held by a 3/16 inch pin. Yikes!
