A while ago, my friend first took ill. He had a 50 pound cancerous growth in his abdomen. The cancer was not malignant; however, it literally choked his kidneys and damaged them. As a result he is now on kidney dialysis. The other day, Al had an MRI and they found another cancerous growth. This one is right near his heart and major coronary arteries. With my friend's precarious health, the doctors cannot remove the cancer. Removing the cancer would certainly kill my friend. Even if he was otherwise young and strong, he would only have a 40 percent chance of surviving the surgery. So, the cancer is going to grow and at a certain point, Al will have a fatal heart attack. The cancer will literally choke his heart and kill him. We don't know how long it will take. A month, six months, a year--we don't know yet. What a crappy way to die. Mr. Fluffy,
Miracles happen everyday. Be strong for your friend and his family.. And Hug Yours. You will need them. Remind your friend, that cancer may be a mean son of a bitch, he just has to be meaner. Keep his spirits up, because at this point, doctors be damned, the fight is on. Kevin |

I know it's tough to be positive; but, anyone of us could die in a car accident tomorrow. Your friend has a chance to prepare and his loved ones have a chance to say goodbye. He also has a choice to pass peacefully by stopping dialysis. The best thing you can do is just be there for him and the family. |

Prayers for you and your friend and his family ,fluffy. Spend as much time as you can with him and make his last days with you something you will remember forever. It's hard because he is very unhappy. But he is worried about his gun collection and we are going to help him with that. He has some very nice guns and we are going to help him give them away while he is alive. As for me, I really don't want any of his guns because I would never be able to enjoy them. You are a real friend. And as such I think you should have something of his to cherish. Although I understand it may be a painful reminder. I agree. The surgery would kill him. He has zero percent chance. Removing the tumor that close to his heart would kill him in any number of ways. He could have a blood clot in his heart or he could have a burst artery and an uncontrolled bleeding. On top of all that he is weak as a result from dialysis. He could go into shock and some of his other organs could fail. He would only have a 40 percent chance if he was otherwise healthy. Sadly, he is a goner. |

Sorry to hear that, OP. Just found out tonight that an old coworker of mine is dying - Stage 4, metastasized. Just a matter of time.
Funny fuckin' guy, always had a blast working with him when I'd be detailed to his place. At this point, I've lost track of the number of guys I worked with that have cancer now. Had it up to here with fucking cancer. |

[#29]
Sorry to hear the bad news about Al. He will be in my prayers.
I also suggest a second opinion. If it is the growth of a benign tumor that threatens to end his life there are non-surgical treatments that might reduce its size / advancement. |

Has your friend consulted some American cancer specialists?
Not to jab too hard at Canada, but he needs advise from doctors not years behind in treatment options and restricted by cost in what options they can take. |
