The following thread got me thinking: Airborne Challenge Coin

What is your rarest Challenge coin or the one that means to most to you that your received from a service member?

This one was given to me by my father at his retirement ceremony after serving 30 years in the USAF as a SERE instructor.

I design these things for a living, but have only been presented with two challenge coins in all my .mil time. (One of those two is from a four star, so that's cool. I'll have to find it later and post a photo.)

Anyone want to see some of the ones I designed?

Only got two in my 8 years.

The one on the left is from a silly dog and pony show we set up in Kuwait for a bunch of VIPs.  I think they liked the Bradley rides.  The one on the right is from a staff ride that I drove for in Normandy.

The bottom one is my 15,000 jump wings. It just happens to be in the pic. I have a few other coins, this was the only pic I had available.

This is one of the least "fancy" of mine but the one I keep one me and value the most. It's the coin I got at Sniper School for being honor graduate.

509th Radio Research Group (RVN) here.  We didn't have challenge coins that I can remember.

Wasn't the ASA disbanded in 1978, 38 years ago?

I don't know if this counts but thought it was pretty cool.  Given to me while doing some testing at Yuma a few years ago (I'm a contractor):

Here we are- I grabbed six of my coins from my desk at mostly random, photographed them, and loaded the pic onto photobucket- if all worked well, here it is:

I did the design and artwork for all of these, the VFW piece was direct-engraved on the die (not by me), and the rest of them used sculpts. (Shellback sculpted by England's Ed Llewellyn, Chinook and Huey sculpted by Steve Adams of Hobo nickel fame.)

ETA: These are all US-made coins.

I got 1 during my first 3 or so years then a crap load in my last since I was sent to be a tour guide at the pentagon lol. I also keep a keychain nexxt to my coins. I took I think he was the bosnian equivalent of the chairmen of the join chief of staff for a tour he didn't have a coin so he gave me a keychain of their national crest I guess.

I-potatoed, the cat likes to walk on them hence the disjointed nature of the setup. Plus not all of em are coins, my cockade, OSD badge, JSAM, and a patch a random department we gave a tour to is there

The one coin I wanted but I never got he was out of em by the time I took a picture with him on his last day in office.

Wee Man! .

I believe it's "ham and motherfuckers".  I'm so glad I didn't have to eat that shit.  From all the stories I heard from my old man and his friends, C rats were truly terrible.

I think they should have made a challenge coin out of the lids for those poor bastards every time you ate a meal.
