Tom Hanks Johnny Depp Will Smith i'll agree with depp out of those 3. Depp was great until after Pirates of the Caribbean. After that, almost every role of his, save the Burton type stuff, was him playing Jack Sparrow but in a different costume. Lone Ranger, anyone?? This is how I see it. I think he gave an interview recently, where he basically said he isn't even trying anymore. He just shows up and cashes the checks, until they stop calling him. |

People have covered many of the biggies, but some lesser-known guys have really impressed me with their ability to play a LOT of different roles, very well.
Tony Kebbell, a british actor who has been in a lot of stuff lately, really disappears in his characters and always makes you believe in them. Same with Dominic Cooper (young Howard Stark in the Marvel moveis). Dan Stevens is another guy who can do that same trick, he's played Matthew in Downton Abbey and was in The Guest recently. Another guy who is not well known in the US but always impresses me is Ricardo Darin. Everything I've seen him in he's blown me away. |

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Robin Williams.
He was one of the most versatile actors out there. |

More or less the same character in every movie, and the movies were written around those parts. Don't get me wrong, he was good at being the wacky dude, but that's about all I remember him being. |

Obama.
I've never seen a person act and convince a nation that he was capable of being president. Twice. |

Christopher Walken has had a couple of good performances. The guy can flat out dance too.

I think a great actor is one who plays a part so well you don't see the actor who is playing the characters part! Some who come to mind are Daniel Day Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio

I can't believe I'm the only one who mentioned James Earl Jones.
I'll also agree with Patrick Stewart. Of course my favorite actor of all time is Leonard Nimoy.

DiCaprio is by far the best actor. Considering how he was in the documentary "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", you can hardly tell in his other work.

View Quote If we're including actors no longer living, Paul Scofield jumps to the top of my list. Absolutely mesmerizing and that voice like a force of nature. Also Alec Guinness, both mesmerizing and with a great voice. Ralph Richardson and John Gielgud. Always considered Olivier too "hammy" or maybe, more charitably, too theatrical or stagey for film. Across the Atlantic, Bogart, Cagney, Brando. |
