Working on my first SBR build (hurry up ATF!!) and am trying to figure out what BCG I should get. I would get a BCM set but I really would like something that is either chrome plated or NIB coated as this rifle will be shot almost entirely suppressed and I like the easy cleaning my young mfg Chrome BCG offers. So far I have narrowed it down to these three, anybody have any experience with them or other options I should be looking at?

aim
have a the cheaper dsg bolt but kinda wish i went with aim on this one. |

I bought the auto fail zero NiB from PA, I think its a quality unit.

My SBR is shot entirely suppressed and I use a cheap $99 BCG that isn't chrome lined or NiB lined or any of that jazz.
Keep it clean, lubed, and you don't need anything special. |
|
Who made your barrel? Try to match them up if possible, seems like money is not the issue. My last one has a Noveske barrel and is getting the Noveske black nitride BCG. I have a WMD nib in one of my rifles and it has been pretty good, I only have about 1500 rounds through it though.

I've got two FailZero NiB BCGs. Honestly, I really don't see the appeal. Both of them discolor to a weird yellowish color after a while and they don't really improve function in any noticeable way. If I was going to go for easy cleaning, I'd probably go NP3 or Chrome as those will at least clean back up fairly easy without discoloring; but honestly the plain black generic BCGs have worked fine for me. I will say that the NiB BCGs are easier to get carbon off (compared to the generic parked BCGs) after you have been shooting suppressed though.

My favorite so fare is this one from Wilson Combat.
Even my LaRue and Noveske BCG's don't seem as nicely made. |

View Quote I had looked at the DD and was set on it but I would rather have the full auto carrier. |

If you want something on the high end I would look for an LWRC ACB or an AR15Performance superbolt.
Almost everything else is just a standard bolt with possibly a nice coating added. |

A decent budget option are the Toolcraft BCG's. I have not used them yet, but they are a .mil supplier for replacement parts.

Colt. Then send it to WND to get it coated. Why? What's wrong with it from the factory? Not shiny enough. Then lube it up more, and it will be shinier. But don't waste money paying to have a BCG coated. |

I'm not really impressed with the NiB stuff and I don't find it that much easier to clean, YMMV. I had a new NiB BCG pit and rust through the coating from just sitting in my range bag as a backup, never even used it. I would go with BCM. If you want to make cleaning easier you should look into an ultra sonic cleaner. |

BCM gets my vote. Little pricy but they come with a free upper.

They had a batch that basically had something similar to hydrogen embrittlement (which isn't unheard of in chromed carriers either). They recalled the batch and sent everyone who was potentially effected a replacement relia-bolt. You could then either keep the old bolt and the replacement or return the old bolt and be entered into a sweepstakes for a .25-45 Sharps AR15. |

Sharps Relia-bolt ...... Don't they have a habit of breaking? They had a batch that basically had something similar to hydrogen embrittlement (which isn't unheard of in chromed carriers either). They recalled the batch and sent everyone who was potentially effected a replacement relia-bolt. You could then either keep the old bolt and the replacement or return the old bolt and be entered into a sweepstakes for a .25-45 Sharps AR15. Well, good on them for recognizing the problem and offering to replace compromised samples. |

What YOU should buy. View Quote I might do just that. I had wanted to look at other options just for something different but if nothing else floats my boat I might stick with what I know. I am not asking anyone to make the final purchase decision for me (Maybe I should change the title? "What BCG do you recommend" ?). I am looking for recommendations and feed back from people with first hand experience. I have been shown several options in this thread that I wasn't even aware existed that I can now consider. I have gotten a few PMs as well with some user's experiences with various BCGs that I can take into consideration. Why NOT ask people who may have experience with the products I am considering for their opinions? I mean it is a firearm discussion board and one dedicated to the AR-15 at that (unless you are a AK47.net heathen). I asked the question in GD because that is where I spend most of my time on here. I guess I could have started another American Sniper thread (saw it last night BTW and loved it) but I thought I would mix it up and ask a gun question. |
