But there's one thing that pisses me off. I removed all of the tiles from the start menu, and it won't shrink down to the "slim" size that I've seen in screenshots of people who have done this. What's the deal?

Sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know because I wouldn't eat the filthy motherfucker.

You could do that in previous builds not 9926 though. Hopefully they add it back in the start menu took a step backward in the last build IMHO.
There is a registry edit to change it back if I remember right. Off to Google.... ETA: Right click on the Start Button and select "Run"
Type "regedit" Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advance Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value, call it "EnableXamlStartMenu" Restart Explorer LINK View Quote |

Windows 8 is shit, even with classic shell. Fuck that charms bar bullshit that you can't fully disable (and don't tell me I just don't know how, you can't fully disable it on a laptop, swiping the track pad a certain way will make it appear again no matter what settings you choose, period).
Windows 10 has all of the good stuff that windows 8 had, coupled with windows 7 and a bunch of stuff that neither had. It is truly the best Windows OS ever, in my opinion. If only I could get litestep to work. |

Holy shit, I didn't even realize Windows 10 was out. I'm still using XP over here.

I've been running it for quite a while now and it's an excellent OS. Even the luddites that couldn't wrap their minds around something as trivial as 8/8.1 are going to like it.

yeah... the next machine I build will probably be 10... Mostly because of DirectX.
But then again... It may be time to look into Steam OS. I don't like touch screens. They have their place... but that place is not shoehorned into every device everywhere. And touch screen design necessities are not good, needed or desired in a desktop or laptop environment. I always have a mouse with my laptop as I have never liked the touch pad. Touch sucks as a method to interact with computers in most situations and only really works in very narrow applications. Phones... drawing tablets... lightweight web browsers... That's it really. So any OS that is designed around foisting touch screens on me is not something I'm going to like. |

FPNI.
It better be good. I like Windows 7 and have no plans to switch to a totally alien system. I have no patience to figure out Windows 8 or anything changed for the sake of making it different. If Windows 10 is more of the same, I'll switch to Linux or even Apple. F' Microsoft. I am a customer and I have a checkbook. MY needs and desires come before Microsoft's need to be all things to everyone. |

So far so good with Windows 10. I like it a lot better than Windows 8.1 (Which I liked too.), and it should please the haters.

They're on Windows 10 already? My Windows 7 doesn't seem to care that it's 3 2 versions behind.

Running 7, here. I'm not going to upgrade to 10 until I buy a new laptop sometime. Hopefully after they have the stable release.

I cant even remember what version of Windows was out the last time I owned a PC.
Something about rebuilding them after every 7 minute porn session got old.

Unfortunately, it's a 3rd party installer and they don't have an update yet. Hoping Windows 10 gets pushed back for awhile so we can get a working installer *before* people buy Windows 10 on the first day and complain our stuff won't install (it actually does, but you have to go find it on the drive manually in explorer to run it)... :-) |

We run 7 at work and I run it at home, but my GF's laptop came with 8.
Fuck 8. I'd rather run Vista than 8. Hoping 10 will actually be as good as it's touted..... |
