History channel is going to do a bit on Texas, and how awesome we are.
In before 1srelluc Also, no beans
It's spelled "Tejas" now and the residents are known as "Texicans".
I do miss my home state, but work brought me elsewhere. RETIREMENT HERE I COME!
While I support the OP's position on beans, does he really think the History Channel can do this justice without aliens (the cosmic ones) somehow influencing the Battle of San Jacinto? (edited for clarity)
Be interesting to see how they show Texas' role in the Civil War, or as you Southerners call it, "The war we lost".
You do know that the Battle of San Jacinto was never in question. At least while the Battleship Texas was sitting there !
As with their "Sons of Liberty" series which is currently airing, I'm sure this will be an entirely fact-based, historically-accurate production that never attempts to sensationalize or over-dramatize the events it depicts.
Jeffery Dean Morgan and Branden Frasier are in the mini series

She wasn't too enthused beforehand, but had a lot of fun at the Monument and on the Battleship. (PSA - take and use bug spray most of the year there.) ETA: The movie at the monument also covers a lot of Texas history. She was surprised at how interesting it was. |

I wonder if it will be about the white people in Texas or the white American settlers and Tex-Mexicans that built this state. It seems history always omits the Mexicans that fought next to the white American settlers.
One of my co-workers who is from up north was blow away when I had to explain to him Tex-Mexicans fought with the white people too. I seem to be the only white person sometimes who remembers that. |

I'll watch it. I'm just a little disappointed that when The History Channel actually produces a program about historic events, it's practically an F'n romance novel. I don't have high hopes for this Texas thing, but I'll watch it because like every arfcommer, I secretly want to be a Texan, or watch something entertaining. I can't decide which. My great great (however many greats) Grandfather was one of the few from Gonzales to answer the Alamos call for reinforcements. My mother was a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and we have artifacts in the Alamo on display that belonged to him I will be watching the series for what its worth... |
