Worcester (just west of Boston) has 25" already (as of 8am EST), they will probably end up with over 3 ft. Boston (right by the water) will end up close to 2ft. I am between the two and will get somewhere in-between 2 and 3 ft. Lots of people without power down by the coast, hopefully we wont lose power later as the stronger wind comes inland. |
|
People living on the coast are going under salt water.

I sooooo wish OP was in the middle of Boston right now. Come on up and show us what you're made of, OP. We could all use a good laugh.

While we won't meet their predictions, in all fairness, it is still snowing here. I'm glad I got to leave early last night and didn't have to go in today. Hopefully the roads will be decent tomorrow. Snowing January New England shocking and "unexpected"??? Snowing pretty damn hard, you would be a fucking idiot to travel in this anways.

Sigh, some areas have to declare a snow emergency to ban road travel because their population is too ignorant and lacks the common sense to do it on their own.

Because the snow is later than forecasted? Snow is notoriously difficult to predict.

The travel ban is just a way to let the plows and police work. They never actually prosecute people who need to go out. If you saw what the roads look like near me (20 miles north of Boston) you wouldn't want to be out on the roads anyway. Snow drifts up to 2' and there are still hours to go.

It looks like 18" or so, here, 12 miles east of Hartford, CT, but it's still snowing.
I think our highways have only been shut down once before, but our brave governor, whom we just re-elected, wants to look like a hero. Besides ... it's for the children, don't you see. The purpose of all news and weather broadcasters is to make money. They sell advertising to make money. Nobody wants to advertise on a show that says, there is going to be a nor'easter tomorrow.
But they will advertise on the show that talks about the looming POLAR VORTEX induced SNOWPOCALPYSE that is going the spin off several POLARBEARNADOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

It'd simple! It's the "pussyfication" of America.
The liberals have taken over the Government and all the Pussy liberals who wet their pants if they aren't taken care of by big brother cause this shit. Oh dear, Oh my what are we to do? There is a snow flake in the forecast so we better shut the state down!! The only FLAKES that are around my house are the mayors of the cities who "just have to protect" the dumb ass liberals that keep voting them into office because they can't fend for themselves. I live in the country and have to fend for my family and myself no matter what the government does. EBR666 |

Meh.
You could move to most of the affected cities this morning, and the weather would probably still be one of the nicest things about the area. |

I love the comments from Ga, Tn, Az....
Right now it's snowing at a rate of 4" per hour. Where you live would have thousands of accidents and everything would be shut down for months. We're staying home today, and everything will be cleared up by tomorrow. |

maybe half a foot here. Meh, dusting. Ontario County.
But if TX got this much snow, every vehicle in the state would be on its roof. |

Last January, the snow caused Alabama to shut down. Plenty of people abandoned cars around the Birmingham metro area on the interstates. It took me an hour to get home when it usually takes less than ten minutes.
Two weeks ago the school superintendent delayed the start of school for 2 hours because of the cold, it was in the high single digits, low teens that morning. |
