Today's progress: X braces up, support blocks up (not bolted yet) and one window in. The local hardware store didn't have a 16" 1/2 bit, so I couldn't put the carriage bolts in the corner support blocks. That will wait until later though. I did put carriage bolts where the 2x4s cross in the middle of the X on all four sides. |

I have a 12x12 two story deck that I built. You did quite a few things 'right'. 2x6 subflooring. Galvanized joist hangers. Galvanized screws. You've fixed the bad parts and learned from it. I'll give it a thumbs up overall now. You ever buy untreated wood again though, and we'll have words. Whether it is in ground contact or not, covered, or not, buy treated. That hidden leak, or unknown spill won't lead to damage like the untreated will lead. Treated wood is something that can be trusted (if you have proper screws), and it can be re-used by your kids one day to build something else. Untreated is always sitting there with the ability to rot without you ever realizing it..or termites, or mold, etc. I have re-used the same woods 3 times in some cases. I am sure that some of the original wood is 30 years old. TRG |

Cat pictures lead strangers to homes, expose social media privacy problems SHELBY COUNTY - AL - When you snap a family picture and post it to social media, do you consider how much private information you are releasing? ABC 33/40 found just one photo can lead strangers to your home. We visited numerous houses in Shelby County with cat pictures simply to ask,"Is this your cat?." The pictures and addresses for the cats' homes were pulled from a website called, "I Know Where Your Cat Lives." Help me out here- the third and last picture in your OP looks like the same side and a fairly noticable sag. After 6 pages and noone else mentioning it though, I'm thinking maybe it's an optical illusion or my eyes have gone fucky on me. What's the deal?
Also, awesome treehouse. Wish I lived far enough out in the boonies to do something like that for my boys. |
