Probably bad place to ask with all the fatasses here but why not.

I know how to do proper push-ups, crunches, etc. but I don't have an idea of how many sets to do and how often so I'm wondering if anyone here has a routine that they'd share.

Of course hiking/running are already being implemented.

No equipment available for use so please take into account.

I'm not trying for a 6 pack but want to get in better shape.

Thanks.

You go to failure/exhaustion and build on that.

ab rollers arent that pricey.  and you can throw lots of rolls in with crunches and planks.  vary up the crunches, planks, and rolling by using in/declines, etc

also leg raised figure 8's and such.

Do air bikes as long as you can 3 times with a minute between then repeat with flutter kicks.

I do 3 sets of 60 crunches - middle, left, and then right set in between 2 sets of 60 push ups.  After that I do 100 - 3 count flutter kicks with shoes / boots on for weight.  It is a simple exercise you can do anywhere and then move on to run or do weight training.

Planks. When you can plank for a few minutes without trembling add some weight to your back.

Yea man, abs are the easiest to work. All you need is a pair of chairs. Rings are also good.

Came to post this. In my MMA competition days, it's what I used as an ab routine. Absolute shredder.

What is your goal?

If it is general fitness and improving your appearance I would skip the spot training and just do P90X.

What is your diet like?

Abs are made at the dinner table and genetics.  You can do crunches and planks forever, but if you eat garbage it is all for not.
