So awesome. I like the FFG blade in the middle best and I like the cully-curved handle on the third blade. Great work.

Hopefully i'll get good at them on the grinder, i've watched all kinds of videos but i can only learn so much from watching. I'm not always sure why i've made a ceratin mistake, but i guess thats all part of experience. |

I've wanted to make my own for months now. This past weekend my friend and I finally went out and gathered all the materials to make a coffee can forge. Next I'm going to make a file jig. Then I can finally get some steel and some micarta and give it a go.
Thanks you for keeping this thread up to date. It serves as great inspiration. |

I've been watching with rapt attention, can't wait to see how they turn out. Looking great so far!
What did the grinder set you back, if you don't mind me asking? |

Looking good. You are getting the main points in making these look great. Take your time and they will be something you can be proud of.
You're Welcome BTW... |

View Quote The Coote grinder cost me just under $600 including shipping, that was for the model with the biggest contact wheel. Link The motor I bought was about $170, I bought that from Grizzly. Grizzly Motors For me it seemed to be the best value, there really isnt much variety between the cheap grinders and the higher end ones. This seemed to fit the spot as best as it could. I'm happy so far. |

If possible, can you go into detail when you do your scales for your handle? This is the part that has me most worried when making my own because I don't work with wood at all and don't know the best way to do them. Especially how you attach them. Thanks!

Maybe, but I KNOW your supervisor (Mrs Ciraxis) In case you have not thought about it, I am sure "Guillermito" will probably love having one of your first knives when he grows up, so you may want to consider saving one for him I know it seems very remote to you now, but children grow up so fast that before you know, they are in college or get married |

No update tonight guys, i did work but i'll spare you guys more pics of me sanding
Basically go look at the photos i just posted and flip them horizontally and it was pretty much what i did. Next update should be me working on the scales/handles |

Looks like you have 1\4" pin holes. Have you thought about making some mosaic pins? Super simple and ad some detail to the scales.

I just scrolled through for all of the pictures. I was impressed.
Making a knife is something I've wanted to do for a long time. |
|
