I've been very successful printing flash hiders for my CMMG 22lr AR. Granted it probably wouldn't hold up to a 5.56 rd

Those were all made on an EOS M280. Definitely not consumer level at this point in time. I have a few others done using a Phenix system. Next project is a brake shield.

The JT design is really somewhat outdated by now.  The Phobos that is posted on my site is the most current version

Nice.

You should try a Mobius cam.
Lots smaller, HD, easy to use.  No lcd to break.
Got mine off amazon, for the motorcycle, but using it in the car too.

Does anyone have the mag well dimensions for the Six8?  I know LWRCI wanted to make the dimensions public/open source, but I can't find anything.

With the new 6.8-based wildcats coming out, (along with .338 Spectre and 6.8 SPC itself), a lower that could shoehorn the Magpul Six8 mag into a regular upper would move some numbers.
Just spitballing here.
I don't know if the new proprietary mag would fit and feed into a standard AR upper.

Best,
JBR

Somehow I missed your post.  Particularly for a .308", despite the recent refinements of the receiver extension boss into a square block, I much prefer War Fairy's Charon's thumbhole stock.  I realize it uses more material, but it certainly seems to effectively reinforce the lower.

Does anyone have experience outsourcing 3D printing tasks to online companies?

I've got some lidar models of trees that I'd like to have models made of at some point.

I've had really good experiences with Shapeways, they do a ton of materials including some high-detail ones that'll print to 1/10th of a Milimeter.

I've been doing 3D printing for quite a while with Shapeways, here's a handgaurd I did for an H&K USC45 (with a barrel long enough to change the classification to our "class 1" type guns)

Made from the "strong white & flexible" dyed black. It's a very tough nylon material! Drop tests and impact tests on the previous model were fairly excessive to actually manage to brake it. Basically took a hammer to it to do structural damage!

Shapeways is nice for what it does, which frees you from inventory or casting.
The resolution isn't superb, but passable, on their highest resolution builds.
I have had good results with their new Frosted Extreme Detail material, which reminds me of high-resolution Objet prinouts.

My review on Shapeways FXD Material

If you're wanting to do jewelry quality stuff (I make miniatures and models as a side job), I use either VisionProto.com or Moddler.com

Both have Envisiontec Perfactory machines, which do small detail well.  Pricey, but worth it.  To me, at least.  Make sure you pay for post-processing.

Best,
JBR

How does the plastic hold up to the heat. I see the 10/22 recover on your site is really neat.

Maybe we should as the site staff for a 3d print sub form in general or the armory.

nope first ones. I went from a Buda (my fav) to a set of chess ceramic ones that totaly suck (couldn't even get them to feed). now to the e3d's. they look damn good except the bit of roughness in the heat break. but that's getting polished out tomorrow.
