I thought they did a good job bringing the Night's Watch election down to TV length. Loved that they gave Maester Aemon the decisive vote.
Brienne is badass, but maybe a bit misguided. Arya is destined to kill a lot of people. Still my favorite character - book or show - and it's not even close. Marrying Sansa to Ramsay is difficult to imagine. Maybe she could slit his throat in his sleep. |

And he's smart enough to know Stannis is one of the last people that would ever play ball. that's easy to say, but stannis has a difficult-to-assess supernatural ace in the hole. furthermore, stannis is in the field--how do you get close to him, if you're littlefinger? and whether you fail or succeed, how do you keep the trail of breadcrumbs from pointing back at you? arguably, defeating bolton (who is not particularly liked in the north) before he has a chance to consolidate is a more plausible strategy. bolton has little political power--it's all muscle. he looks tough, but he has no actual allies and no ante for the larger game. plus, littlefinger can use stannis against bolton--it's hard to go the other route, since littlefinger has no muscle. |

View Quote Click To View Spoiler Book Littlefinger plans to marry Sansa to Harry the Heir, then use Arryn's strength to take Winterfell after Stannis and Roose finish playing with each other. The show appears to be going in the direction of some kind of marriage between Sansa and Ramsey, writing out Jeyne Poole. Frankly this appears to be a stupid change to me, but if that is the direction they are going, then it only makes sense if it is a plot to kill the Boltons. No way Littlefinger chooses to side with Bolton over Stark when he has Sansa in his sway. Proximity to Stannis is just a benefit as Littlefinger will have to take him out eventually. Given the war losses, Stark, Arryn and the Riverlands alone are likely not enough to take on Lannister & Tyrell, and I don't think Littlefinger can count on Doran's support given how cagey Doran is at the Game. But in any event, if you are going to take out Stannis you'd pretty much choose any option but the field, as that is where Stannis is at his best. Now the other possibility is that Littlefinger is going to betray Sansa to the Boltons. I've long thought that Sansa figuring out what Littlefinger did to Jayne Poole was going to be the point where she realized what a monster he was and begins to plot his downfall, using what he taught her. This could be a clumsy way of shortening that storyline. If it is, it sucks and Fonzi may be putting on his skis. |

That's funny. Either the show is intentionally showing Cersei to be flat lying to Jaime or they made a mistake. I'd lean toward the first one because I believe the writers know for a fact that there are a great many GoT fans that nerd out over stuff like this. Bodes poorly for Jaime, IMO. Or someone with close access to Sansa got his little hands on it and sent it to Cersi, impling that is was from Dorne, to cause tension between the Lanisters and Dorne. It's a misconception that Valonqar means "little brother". It's a rough translation from Valerian anyway. In fact amongst the super geeky ASOIAF community, they are 60/40 on whether it's meant to be a male or female.
But I do find it intriguing that the possibilities are so open. |
