I think it becomes about 1200$ we'll all get some. I thnk it will get there. Look at flashlight tech. It is so much better and cheaper today. Some company will figure out how to get it to us around that price point or even cheaper. That company will make a fortune. Tubes days are numbered. Digital will surpass them sooner rather than later, and that's when the price will drop significantly. You're right but it will be sad in a way. Right now, if you have night vision you are likely to be the one guy that isn't blind in the darkness. When it gets cheap, everyone will have it - including criminals of all types. |

so if i were to want the most solid NV system i can get but not have to sell my sister to afford it what would one suggest?
second question. if i was willing to sell my sister (extra 1000 bucks or so) to obtain a solid NV system what would one suggest? i dont necessarily need the Lambo of night visions.. but then again i don't want the KIA of NV either. Id like the corvette or the Maserati |

Well everyone who told me I'd just end up buying a monocular and to just skip the PVS-7...yeah guess who is now the proud owner of a gen 3 AB micro?
Now maybe I should look in to replacing my pasgt helmet. |

Is everyone buying comms to go with their night vision? Seems like it would be a good way to coordinate movements with the spouse while creeping in the dark. |

I paid almost 1200 dollars for my level III rifle rated helmet. It weighs the same as an ACH. If I'm going to wear it, might as well stop 7.62 rounds while I'm at it... |

Gen III AB Micro (waiting on my helmet) Gen III M845 I'm going to murder some mother fucking coyotes. |

now I want a fucking airframe again
I keep telling myself the ach is good enough, having a 900 pound head is NBD and makes my neck swole |

So, now that I've got a helmet mounted monocular and an IR laser on my rifle, how the shit do I sight that laser in? It's just a lasermax uni, so no slaved daytime visible laser. I'm thinking I'm going to have to clamp the rifle down with the Aimpoint sighted to a particular POA and then wait for nightfall and drift the laser in to match?

I'm thinking I'm going to have to clamp the rifle down with the Aimpoint sighted to a particular POA and then wait for nightfall and drift the laser in to match? View Quote First off, get yourself some IR reflective tape for $3 at Lowes. Wrap a piece around the tiny allen wrench that came with the lasermax because you are going to drop it on the ground, in the dark. Having some IR tape on the wrench will give a fighting chance to find it. Clamp rifle in a vise and adjust the laser so the beam hits the same spot on the target as your aimpoint...this will obviously get you close. Then, if you want to use the "offset" or "parallel" method, measure the distance that your laser is above your bore. Lets assume the laser is on the top rail and is 1 inch over the bore for example. Place a small piece of IR tape 1 Inch above your bullseye...this will be your POA. When the laser passes over the tape it will bloom and be obvious through the NVGs. Fire some rounds and adjust the POI (bullseye) so that it is 1 inch below the POA (IR tape). Again, I implore you to put IR tape around that tiny wrench...I've dropped mine and they are impossible to find in the dark. For other configurations, if your laser is 1 inch away from the bore at the 3'oclock position than put a piece of IR tape 1 inch to the right of your bullseye etc. You also can just leave your POI/POA the same, but it will be a few inches off at long distances. No need for fancy IR targets with the lasermax IMO. In the future, when funds allow, get a laser with IR & visible features...I much prefer zero'ing in the daylight |

Power is out right now, using my AB micro, sure I COULD use a 9 cent candle but what is the fun in that?
