Thinking of maybe switching to them using Verizon towers and an iPhone to save some money when my VZW contract is up in May.

Good? Bad? Ugly?

They had my number ported in under 2 hours. No issues whatsoever using ATT towers.

The website is almost useless though.

got it for my wife.  We have the international plan because her parents live in Canada.  $60 a month for an international play and unlimited data!  No issues.
You do have to pay full price for the phone but it's worth it.

Former Straight Talk customer here.
Last time I bought air time they charged my debit card six times.
Customer support is in India or Pakistan and has limited English. After a day of getting the run around on the phone I opened a complaint with my bank and they finally straightened it out..
Currently I am very happy using Verizon prepaid.

Well that sucks. Looks like you can use an iPhone on their prepaid.

Been on it two years, only difference I see is that the bill is half as much as with Verizon!

I don't think Verizon allows 4G LTE use by any of their MVNO's, so there's that.

Depending on what zip code you enter will decide which phones you are shown and which service you get .. The phones have a letter after the model number which indicates which phone it is..

there is NO roaming included, so if you travel you may not have coverage in places..  For verizon service if you look at the 'pre-paid' (which also doesnt have roaming coverage) coverage map you can see where ST would have coverage.

I considered it until I saw all the posts on their Facebook page about billing issues and disconnected phone service (similar to the above poster had)

I also thought - not sure - that the internet speeds were not as fast as a contract Verizon customer - that may have changed though

my son has been using their $30 per month pay-as-you-go plan (buys a card at walmart) for several months and has been happy with it.

1500 minutes/UNLIMITED TEXT/100MB data, it firs his needs at half what he was paying monthly before.

Less than half for me..

Current phones run on AT&T towers. My spare runs on Verizon.

Tried it for a few months. They throttled my data until it was unusable, even tho I followed their vague ToS.

Lack of reliability and customer service.  I happily signed Vzw's contract after several months of that.

As far as customer service, the only time I dealt with them was when I ported my number.

They were very helpful and prompt.

I use ting.  It uses Sprint towers and my average bill is $35 with a smart phone.  No complaints.
