Been looking at the 2015 F-150 too, nice truck ,  but the prices have gotten stupid.

$60k , I'd buy another rental house, some acreage or pay down my mortgage.
I bought my last truck in 08, it was a used 06 w/20k miles for $18,400 and it stickered new for $39k.  I paid it off quickly and it's still going strong at 119k miles.
Yes, as a matter of fact I am cheap.

Jesus, y'all might wanna get out of the basement more often and see what new cars and trucks cost these days. My wife's uncle is getting a loaded 2015 F-150 as well and I believe his is running 54-58K. Trading in a Lincoln something and a loaded 2010 F-250. All of these guys saying "get a diesel" or "get a 3/4 ton"

My buddy just traded a 2013 Platinum F-150 4x4 Eco for a 2014 King Ranch Powerstroke 4x4 250. It looks great. We averaged 12.6 mpg driving to my house as well. Also, he couldn't turn into the spots at BassPro. It also got a little bumpy on the highway, making him spill his tea on the new carpet. Diesel 3/4 tons are not the end all for trucks. The cabs are not that much bigger, they get stuck on wet grass, you have to worry about the DEF, worse mileage, worse ride....

There are downfalls. I would like a 2016 Raptor with the Eco though. They ride like a LS and will get better than 11mpg.

What kinda of milage were you getting with your last 2 ecoboosts? I've heard such mixed numbers and love and hate for that motor that I went with a 5.0 and I'm right at 15.0 mpg right now, kinda pissed about that myself as other are getting 17+ with the 5.0.

It's ridiculous to spend more for a diesel (at same trim level) unless you need a diesel.

New diesels cost more to drive than new gas, all else being equal.

I get 19mpg with the 1-ton Cummins, no load.  9 or so hauling hay.  3/4 ton diesels are used only to get around the "commercial truck" fees levied on 1-tons in certain states.

But, the market is screwing us on the diesel fuel price.  Diesel should be $1 cheaper than gas, but it's been discovered as a pass-down expense on goods and an excise tax cash cow.

We used to use diesel to light a burn-pile or soak fence posts it was so cheap.  Not any more.

That is very noble of you to live in such a modest house and have a extremely low house payment. You have to remember that many of the people that are buying this truck is for their business. Whether it is a oil business a lawn business painting business power washing business… It's a write off. The truck also comes with two different motors a 2.7 which is a pretty dang strong new motor and the 3.5 both of them turbo. The resale on these 2015 trucks in three years is going to be way higher than a 2014 similarly equipped. That being said whatever job you have in Oklahoma you are paid a shitload less per hour, per week or per year then if you lived in a state like California New York Florida Illinois, Texas.   Everything is relevant.  Also like any new car prices back to reality after a few months.

A plumber in Oklahoma might make $16 an hour where a plumber in the other states that are mentioned might make $35 per hour same goes with the nurse, a welder, a policeman, firemen, a schoolteacher.

It is always better to WORK in a state with very high salaries and RETIRE in a state with very low cost of living. Oh yeah living in Oklahoma during the winter is wonderful. Sarcastic.. Where I live 60k can buy you a small lot of land. Once you build a 3 bedroom 2 bath 1600sq foot house on it you'll have about 4' of grass between you and your left and right neighbors and maybe about 8 foot of grass in the back yard. :(

My thoughts exactly. NO F'n  way I'll pay that for a 1/2 ton truck. Might as well go 3/4 or 1 ton. at least then you know your paying for a stronger powertrain/driveleine

For the people saying go bigger go diesel, etc. Not always the best option.

I had an F250 and never did anything with it (work wise). Might have use the truck bed like once a year. It costs a CRAPLOAD in maintenance. Whether its oil change, new tires, etc. + if something brakes its far more expensive to fix.

The new F150's are damn nice (I'd argue as nice as a luxury car interior/feature wise) and are a perfect size.

What makes you think his house is modest, or that he has a payment?  He could've built it himself.

There's no sense buying a depreciable piece of equipment that expensive for business, when a fleet vehicle will do, unless it's to offset big income, like in the real estate business.
