Nice work ARFCOM!

PBS gun poll backfires; stories from Sydney, Philly may explain why

A PBS “Newshour” poll launched Sunday appears to be backfiring big time against the gun prohibition lobby – coincidentally on the heels of Saturday’s “I will not comply” rally in Olympia – and news reports from Australia and Pennsylvania this morning may just have some bearing on it all.

The poll asks readers if they would support more restrictions on guns on their states. As this was written, a whopping 95 percent-plus was saying “No.” Gun rights activists on various forums, including the popular Northwest Firearms forum, are already suggesting that this poll throws water on other surveys that show overwhelming support for additional gun laws, including so-called “universal background checks.”

PBS Poll: Opposition To Gun Control Stands at 95 Percent

LOL. Wasn't it like 90 something percent that supposedly supported more gun control after Newtown? As we know, polls are not necessarily accurate, especially the poll that supported more background checks.. At least in this instance, we have a poll that helps to level things out. Regardless, gun rights should prevail for the next couple of years and prices should remain stable and low for ammuntion and firearms - at least I hope.

...the poll "backfired"?

A "backfire" is when you get a result that runs contrary to the outcome you'd planned for.
Is PBS saying that they ran this poll with a predetermined plan to arrive at a specific outcome? Is that what they're telling the public?

I'm going to try this in my best 0barry voice:

The people who support common sense gun control (which is at least 90% of the population) didn't vote in that poll. It is the job of politicians to make sure their voices are heard.

When they decide to gun control, no number of polls will stand in their way.

I assume it will be another year before they unfold their plan on us.

This is why Washington needs to force Gun Control down our throats, we're too dumb to know what's good for us.

The poll results will be twisted 180 degrees in a few months.

Would you support more restrictions on guns in your state?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Washington laws ballot initiatives? They were voted on by the residents of the state? I hate to say it, but I agree with the article when it says Washington gun rights activists fell asleep that day. You may have been expecting a Republican landslide victory, but you still have to show up, damn it.

Doesn't mean squat, not even a ripple in the pond.  A few conservative websites picked up on a minor poll that was probably for some PBS blogger's own use.  Let me know when CNN, WSJ one of the big networks runs with this story for the masses.

I'd like to join in the high fives as well, but this wasn't a scientific poll. Sure, it feels good and is somewhat of a moral victory, but I think it's laughable that any news organization is running a story on the outcome of an online, non-scientific poll. Still, I did vote in that bitch.

Yea, it's pretty funny how powerful we are once we all start moving in the same direction on something.

Now where's the poll for allowing citizens to use walking tanks and particle beam weapons?

The same people that are anti gun and want the government to protect you are protesting... "hands up, don't shoot" and "I can't breathe" as their rally cry. Ironic protest for those they say will protect you once you are properly disarmed.
