Anyway, I bought a new desktop computer and needed a UPS unit with a true sine wave to meet the current class of computer power supplies.

My old unit is an APC ES-650, so I upgraded to a Cyber Power sine wave model.

Now I have this old UPS, and as I was wrapping the cord around it so I can store it in the basement, the logical thought occurred to me.  Wrap the cord around it then plug it into itself to keep it from unraveling.

Then I thought "wait, don't do that".

Then I thought "why not".

Then yeah, I figured why not power it up in that state to see what happens?  That's where I chickened out.

I just upgraded from this:

Resonance and inverter self-destruction.

I dont know what any of that means. But it sounds like it could create a black hole and consume the whole world. So don't do that please.

I was going to chime in about the sine wave how it may not charge it well
but you seem to maybe have a better one

most times the cheap ones I had didnt power up devices too well, as I was trying to power security cameras and dvr, monitor off of them

im just wondering if the battery can put out more then the internal charger uses
and if you will have any excess power maybe to run a little device like a phone charger

but in the end the cheap battery will be the weak spot

So to counter that, what if I plug the new one into the old one, then the old one BACK into the new one?

That's not how ANY of this works.

It might "loop" the charge for some time, but it requires quite a bit of battery juice to create 110v through the inverter, so the return charge will be very small.

In other words, the batteries will die.

Well, it depends upon your unit.
Considering that most of the better units will have an approximate 87% efficiency, based on the battery size you can calculate how long the thing will go before it shuts itself down...

There are videos on youtube of idiots trying to create perpetual motion machines by hooking generators up to electric motors and plugging the motor into the generator it is powering. They run for a surprisingly long time, longer than I thought they would at least.

Depends.  Is the UPS on a treadmill?

Plug in a treadmill and put a plane on it too! Maybe then add a wind turbine too!

It depends on how fast the treadmill is spinning
