Is it the the new light bar? These Go Lights or whatever they are called.
How many people actually use them? Is it a status symbol?

It is dark when you get away from the mall parking lot and street lights.

I love my LED lightbar,  they are super bright and have low amp draw and lower profile.

And I do off road my truck.

They fit into one of three categories:
1) They honestly use them off road out in the field.

2) They have never been and don't even know how to off road - but some day hope to.

3) They are for show only, they are hipsters that use DE shavers and never ever plan on being off road, they are as fake as they come.

This is what I'm talking about. 1/3 of the trucks in Mississippi have one on the roof. Not really, but I see a lot.

Not many, but some take their trucks off-road and that means a lack of street lights, street signs, and .... streets. Having a pair of pencil beams in the middle and a pair of driving lights on the sides allows me to light up the trail to see what the hell I'm driving into and over and makes finding my way a hell of a lot easier. I also have huge sidelights and an LED light bar pointed aft and an HID remote controlled spot light above the passenger's seat. I used to be the trail leader for a pretty big SUV club.

If they're on a scratched up, dented and muddy truck, they've been used for their purpose.

If they're on a Tundra that looks like it belongs on a showroom floor, with a salt life and yeti cooler sticker on the rear window, it's never been off road, and it's a status symbol for wannabe redneck Bros.

Its just a remote controlled light.Utility trucks have had a variation of them since the 40's.

They used to poke through the roof. Cops had/have them on their cars poking out by the drivers side mirror.

Ah shit. I'm in Bama. I forgot I changed my location.

Typical "daddy's money" mall crawlers abound in my area.

I think the LED light bars are cool. They  would be great on the front of a duck boat.

Never did like them on the roof. Way too much glare.

Much better mounted on the front bumper, but alley and work lights work good mounted up high. And yes, the LED lightbars absolutely rock.

They have very high output vs. the power the draw, and the new slim lines are very good looking. When used for their intended purpose they work great.

He is talking about the single spotlights as opposed to all the lights on a bar.

I have a spotlight on top of my company vehicle.

I have a remote for it and it will tilt up and down and revolve almost 360 degrees.

I use it when I am on call because some of the sites in my on call area are out in the middle of the swamp and the light really helps.

I have 2 of those Go light remote control POS on my work truck. Its ok to be able to point it wherever while sitting still in park. However not worth a crap while driving and also trying to use a stupid ass remote.

Took me over a year to get them to mount a old style A pillar spot light on the damn truck. Now much easier and safer to use while driving riding out power lines in the dark looking for trouble.

Fuck a Go Light.

Exactly.

I seem to recall reading in California's hunting regs that "having a spotlight and a gun at the same time" in your vehicle is considered sufficient evidence to convict for poaching, specifically "spotlighting".  Am I wrong?

But surely the Game Warden is a reasonable man...

Over the windshield sucks. Glare from hood and wind noise are my 2 biggest gripes.

I'd like to put a couple LED bars on my 80 series when I get my ARB installed.

I get zero wind noise and when angled properly, the glare is on the outer edge of the hood, i never had any issues driving or seeing with mine.

Mine is about 6" back from the top of the windshield, plus my hood is covered in matte vinyl, so no glare. Having the light mounted higher also helps to illuminate over small hills.
