One of our catering companies gave just gave me a bottle of "Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut." I'm told it is pretty good stuff.

On a budget Domaine Chandon (made by Moët in California) is very nice. For the real deal Charles Heidsieck.
Got to visit both |

Actual Champagne and not Brut is usually pretty good no matter the brand.
Brut can vary. I don't mind the cheap stuff. Cooks, Andre, etc... but it isn't anything close to what champagne tastes like. There are some $15-$20 bottles of Brut that come close but have yet to find very many under $40 that tastes like champagne. Certain years of Mumm Brut are fantastic, they rival some of the $90-$150 Champagnes, other years not so much. Best Champagne I have ever had was Krug Clos Du Mesnilbut but it was north of $700 a bottle. Try drinking that next to a bottle of the cheap stuff. Perrier jouet and dom perignon are extremely over ratted. |

We pop a bottle of Veuve on New Years eve every year. It's good stuff and not too obscene for price. If I'm paying attention I can find it at Costco for $40 or so. Good find.

The house that makes Moet & Ch. Went through the gift shop at the end and of course had to buy a few bottles to show off back home. When we got home we saw the same label in the grocery store for cheaper than we paid in FR. We tend to swill the standard Korbel Extry Dry, rather than Brut, since it has higher alcohol, I believe. |

Never had champagne. Am I missing anything?
I like frozen margaritas. |

Champagne is wine that sucked, so they carbonated it to make it suck less.
It still sucks, it's just bubbly. |

Cristal is good but expensive.
Moët is my go to champagne. I drink it too often it's awful easy to find a reason to "celebrate" |
