I worked at a rink here in Miami called Hot Wheels and the two songs that stick in my head are Michael Jackson's Don't Stop Til you Get Enough and Herman Kelly's Lets Dance.

Parliment....Just about any funky damn thing by Parliment, but back in the day, Flashlight was the shit!!!

Bunch of backwoods Farm hicks and the town kids, black, white, all of us, loved that Funky shit. LOL!!

George Clinton, and the P-funk goodness was manditory for any skate session.

Video games? What the Hell was a video game?

Yeah I'm an old bastard but I used to live at the rink. At least 3 sessions a weekend plus hockey and speed team and any church sessions I could sneak into through the week.

Used to swing my skates over my shoulder and hop a train to get to and from the rink.

Turned a 45 minute walk down the tracks into about a 10 minute ride.

Slayer, Raining Blood. Riedell, Hyper Cannibals , Wicked Lips and Swiss bearings. The smell of burning rubber from new grooves being put into your wheels. The girls, who could forget the girls. All part of being a speed skater in the early 90s.
