I work for a private company and we've gotten Christmas gift every year.  I really appreciate the gift as it's a big moral booster for employees.  Back 6 years ago when the economy went south, our business went down drastically but we still got Christmas gift that year...$100 in my case.  This years gift was a little over $1,500 after .gov withholdings which is more than last year.
My wife got an end-of-year bonus too at her work place which was almost $6k after .gov withholdings.
Overall it was pretty good year for us.

LOL...what bonus?

Last year, our Christmas Bonus checks were here...in the fucking building...but the General Manager sent them back, had them cancelled and used the money to make our bottom line look better so he'd get a bigger bonus.

To call this guy a cocksucker would be an insult to honest cocksuckers everywhere else.

If I was that guy's boss I would have fired him on the spot when I found out. How short sighted can a person get before they become too stupid to breath on their own.

ETA: depending how the bonus funds were distributed and how they were funneled back into the books to make the bottom line look better it amounts to basically theft. Again I would have fired him on the spot.

I reckon they will tell us we can head out an hour or two early on Christmas Eve.  We will see if work conditions allow for it, but the early release email warms my heart all the same.

Only Christmas bonus I've ever gotten was a turkey or a ham, and I haven't gotten that in 7 years. It's alright, though. I'm just thankful that I have a job and can pay my bills.

In my 21 years of dot mil service I never saw one, didn't expect one.  Some years we got raises other years we lost due to cuts in COLA or housing, etc.  That's just the game and you get used to it but I don't regret my time and would do it again.

Now that I have been in the private sector a few years, WOW!  I have had a bonus and raise every year.  This year the bonus was 5 figures plus a raise.  I feel truly blessed and am grateful for everything I have.  I love this job, love the people I work with and would still be just as happy if there were no bonuses.

The money this year went right into the bank.  All our holiday shopping is done and after the holidays we are going to use it to pay some bills off.

I am very appreciative and humbled of everything I receive.

Nope.  But I gave them out as the owner of the company.  It means less money in my pocket at the end of the year (less I have to pay in taxes), but it is the right thing to do for people that busted their ass to make the business a success during the year.

Very generous! How many of them kick ass for you and how many still piss moan and bellyache about trivial shit?

As a small business owner, sometimes it is tough to cough up those Christmas bonuses yet I always do. $1000.00 after tax bonuses for our five employees. We have a great little group and do appreciate them very much but damn if some of them just act miserable. Some days it's a well oiled machine and others I could strangle them...lol.

Yeah, 20% of base pay.  It's in my employment contract.  Bonuses don't get paid until feburary though

Probably not.  If I do it will be small.  Wife got a $100 bonus this year.  .

Not really bothered by it.  Going to get to see both families for the holidays, we have our health and a good home.

$50 Holiday "Bonus", from a company who just at my facility alone made $5,000,000 MORE than the projected 2014 profit predictions

Paid for my Black Friday ffl transfer, a case of beer, and 2 tins of grizz... Better than nothing I suppose

WTF is a Christmas bonus?

Oh I guess the 1% raise we are getting is our bonus.

I never count on a Christmas bonus because I look at it as a gift.  The thing that pisses me off is I work for a county EMS service and while we aren't getting a bonus this year, you can bet the sheriffs dept. will be getting theirs.  They also get a raise every year and we haven't seen one in several years.  Maybe we need to start shooting dogs!

Everybody got $1k bonus (taxes paid by company) they give it during Thanksgiving dinner, where they take everybody out on their dime. As an extra bonus my boss (uncle) also purchased a basketball hoop, archery target, Xbox games and some other stuff for my kids. Plus he gave me a 10k raise this year. It pays to increase sales via the web and work for familia! Oh I also got to use one of his Dodge Chargers for the last 6 months :)
At least 18 people work here.

Got an anti-bonus this year.

They waited until the week of Thanksgiving to announce the cancellation of attendance bonuses for 2014 (for not using sick days).

Ironically, that made me sick.

I got a $25 Walmart gift card, so that's something. What bothers me is how the laziest, clueless, pain in the ass driver got the same exact thing. It's all about "fairness", and keeping live bodies in the driver's seat, I guess.

I'll buy socks and underwear with it.

We get profit share in January.

It's some confusing system that never adds up. The math is not possible to reverse engineer.
What I do know is that despite having record sales in 2013, my bonus was only $100 more than my 2012 check.

The thing I hate about it though, one of the supervisors had the nerve to tell me "they don't have to give 'you' a check" as if I wasn't in the top five for OT to make production happen as well as using that bonus all year as a smack in the face when anything went wrong.  If you don't want to give me a check, don't reference to it all year long.

Bonuses (or bonii if you want to be a grammar nazi) are a big part of my compensation. Despite having increasing revenue and profitability over the last 4 years, however, my bonuses have gone done each year with the exception of this year (which only tied my low). We'll see how motivated I am for next year (a fact that I explicitly conveyed in November pre-announcement)...

The job I've currently had for the past few years gives out Bonuses twice a year. It is pretty fantastic, and always nice to get a pretty substantial amount of money. After the government takes their 1/3, I try and use the most of the rest to get good gifts for everyone.
