Looks complicated. I have had great luck with scotch pine needles and krylon.
Seriously, though, there is a great thread on AR15.com somewhere that has great ideas. I painted my $500 AR up and it works great. Kills lots of coyotes, too. |

How much does it cost to get a rifle dipped in that camo stuff. Cant remember what its called, but they take an object and dip it into a tank and it comes out with a perfect detailed pattern on it. I think there are some companies out there that you can send your stuff to and they dip it for ya. Sorry for being so vague, I just remember hearing something about this a while back.

View Quote Hydro dipping. Depends on how much you want to spend. A forend will typically run about 40 bucks to get it dipped. The more parts you do the cheaper it tends to get as long as you don't change the pattern or colors. Reason being that they layer the vat with the image and any changes to pattern or color means a complete washout of the vat and starting over. ETA: fix typo |

I say go with hydrodipping. there really is no other choice when it comes to patterns. usually, when you dip your rifle, it is the actual pattern licensed by the manufacturer that is going on your gun.
looks like a KUIU Verde camo pattern http://www.northwesthydroprint.com/patterns/camouflage-patterns.html |

You're going to need to make the snakeskin matrix on that one.

Frisk film and graph paper gives a great digicam/multicam effect .Just swipe some graph paper out of your kid brothers maths book .Drawn random squares as you like them . Use this over the Frisk film (modelers use this stuff for masking-sticky backed) apply to area you want lighter/darker than background colour and spray !

Personally, I think the best looking camo patterns come from people who didn't put much thought into the pattern at all. Wipe the entire gun down with Mineral spirits, mask anything you do not want painted (optic lenses, sights, lights, lasers, etc.) lay down a base coat of your primary color (allow to dry) and then arrange some leaves, twigs, etc. on the stock and randomly apply one, two or three additional colors in small bursts. Allow to dry, flip the rifle over and repeat on the other side. If you see something you don't like hit it with a shot of additional paint.

Wow had no idea we had a whole refinishing section
It doesn't have to be exactly that pattern, but I'd like it to be close, looks like I'm picking up some sponges and paint after work |

To get the digitized effect you want you'll have to either use stencils or sponges.

Do you need to do any prep work on a TD 10/22? Or can you paint over the grey paint that is already on it?
