They didn't put any fingers up my butt, or a lot of the other guys who went to basic with me, a small sprinkling of them at 30th AG asked if the doc shoved a finger up their butt too. So the recurring joke after that throughout basic was the Docs only did that to the guys they thought where cute.

They did years latter when I was in the hospital for a kidney stone though

Really? I'm pretty sure my friend (from MI) went to PI, this was ~3 years ago.

Many years ago, when I passed through the MEPS in Lansing, I believe the men from Lansing went to SD but the men from the Detroit-area MEPS went to PI.

I can confirm that, at least in '93, Detroit MEPS went to PI.

I did some quick checking and read from one source that parts of Michigan and Indiana are divided as to where recruits end up. My friend in question is indeed from the east side of the state.

for many languages they make Lance Corporal before the course ends. I know at least 3 or 4 of the 6 Marines in my class made Lance Corporal a few months before graduation.
