Good stronking with you tonight Dmnoid, thanks for taking the bait... Er.... Invitation. You did well which basically means you didn't piss anyone off.
Overall, the only thing you should work on would be movement and positioning and getting that gun talking. When you're in a close in spot to an enemy, you can and should lock your turret on them and just dump rounds while you maneuver. Sometimes it seemed like you were holding shots to make sure you scored a hit when you should have just shot them or made a wrong turn around a rock. That's an experience thing, a switching of gears in your head that is the biggest difference between competitive play and pubbing. As an example, on arctic region when the enemy was down to their last two tanks and I said to go the other way around, but you went the safe way to preserve HP, you didn't really have to do that as you were full HP. It would be the right move in a pub, but in strongholds, you want to put guns out of the fight fast because many times it is a war of attrition. Get a bit more under your belt and you would be a solid tourney guy. Again, overall you did very well and others commented such after you left, but you just need a little experience, and we will invite you back for more if you want to get it. GG man. |

View Quote Mission accomplished. The movement and positioning you noted is a byproduct of a few things: 1: Not having much experience with strongholds. 2: Not really being comfortable in mediums. 3: Not being familiar with the teammates. Most of the time I was trying to set up so I could keep one or more teammates in view so I could try and key in on what you were seeing and how you were adjusting. It was clear very quickly that you guys play together enough (and at a high enough level) that you have a pretty good idea where each of you are going to be, how you are going to (or need to) move, and how you are going to handle a given situation. Most of that I had to try and figure out on the fly which was complicated by the pace of play in most of the matches. For the most part I considered it a success if I could not be wildly out of position, react appropriately to the calls, not do something incredibly dumb, and hopefully land a couple hits. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Thanks again for the invite and the opportunity to learn some stuff. Long way to go. |

Truth be told, the only people there that I play with regularly was ClearlyUnequal, JohnMadara, and Blaspheme. Everyone else there was the first or second time I'd seen them. It is more of an experience thing of how you should be moving and what you should be doing in any given situation. I could easily throw some of the other clan guys from this site in that role and they'd know what to do. The nice thing about much of that is that most of the lessons you learn in a Strongholds, clan wars, or team battle can be directly applied to pubs with a lot of success for the most part. Remember when we were on Tundra and I said we shouldn't go hill because these guys are shitters and I expect them to do something weird, and that professionals are predictable? You can apply a lot of that to your pub play. Take a guy like me, I'm going to gravitate to the places where I have a large advantage and stay away from the places where you'd be able to beat on me. Knowing that, you could feasibly totally avoid me and kill off my team, or otherwise hamstring me by messing with my mojo. Guys that aren't so good? They'll pop up all over the fucking place, often in an unexpected direction because nobody would come at me from that direction. Well, sometimes it works. |

View Quote I did notice that throwing the T64 out there created some interesting dynamics. They couldn't really ignore him on the chance he was screening for the rest of the group. Chase him and there is the chance that he was just bait and they risk opening up a flank to an enveloping movement or risk him scooting off to cap or just generally being an annoying little bastard. |

Did something happen yesterday? Everything seemed fairly normal, and then suddenly I got stuck in a bunch of matches in a row where it didn't matter what I did or how well I played, my team would melt before my eyes and I'd find myself dog-piled.

Were you on my teams at all? lol
Seems to be more and more runs where you lose a ton of games in a row with teams that are just pure crap....and the kicker for me is I am running around 75% of my games at bottom tier... I am simply not anywhere near good enough to turn a TX match in my freaking IP or an IS-3...... |
