Things like this make my inner German have thoughts I don't enjoy having.

Eventually the protesters in that video will get what they're begging for, and they'll lose.   The sad part is it's going to require us to be more barbaric than they are to finish the job in any way that doesn't need re-doing in 10 years.  Where is Ender when you need him?

We have a tendency to let people push us until we're really really angry.

They won't like the US when we're angry.

Poverty breeds openness to extremism no matter the religion.

Wealth breeds bleeding heart ignorance.

Muslims can be awesome regular joes just like any other religion. When you bring generationally impoverished extremists into your country expect them to act like generationally impoverished extremists who  fall to their religions poverty pimps and see injustice in the most basic of law enforcement procedures.

As I understand it...

It was a sleepy hollow.

Then, it was turned into a huge council housing compound to move poor people out of London when previously working class/poor areas of London joined the skyrocketing London real estate appreciation.

The 9/11 hijackers came from comfortable, middle class backgrounds, many university educated. Three of the four 7/7 suicide bombers were born in the UK and had university educations. The morons who set themselves on fire trying to bomb Glasgow airport were a doctor and a engineer studying for a PHD. The two jihadists who murdered Lee Rigby were born in London and went to university there. The "underpants bomber" was the son of a Nigerian banker and studied engineering at University College London and a number of other universities arround the world. Nidal Hasan was both a psychologist and a major in the US Army. The current British poster boy for ISIS had been offered a place studying medicine at Oxford or Cambridge before he left for Syria. al-Zawakiri was a surgeon before he joined Al Qaeda. Not to mention the fact that even after his family disowned him and cut him off, bin Laden was a multi millionaire who started Al Qaeda with his own personal money.

The individual insurgent shooting up a passing convoy in Iraq or Afghanistan or Somalia may be an illiterate goat herder who can count to potato, but the actual terrorists operating in the West are most certainly not impoverished peasants scraping a living in a refugee camp.

Good post. The appeal of ISIS is to middle class established Muslims who are very "Westernized" by prior objective standards, not just Islamic Rage Boy.

Its a fascinating dynamic. Similar to Bolshevism in the 1920s.

I see it as kind of a "fight club" dynamic - lending meaning to an otherwise meaningless drudgery.

FWIW, I remain supportive of outright banning the wearing of masks in public.  I continue to find it ironic that there are several Muslim countries that ban the veil, yet to do so in the west would be regarded as hostile to "Islam."  Why we remain afraid to call bullshit in the bullshit, perplexes me.  I swear, I see more Ninja women walking around Brussels or Munich than I do Istanbul. We cater to the very elements other countries run out.  It might have been cool with the Puritans, history-wise, but it's getting out of hand with this new crowd.

i call bullshit on the above.  i worked in Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, for about 2-3 months, helping to deliver mostly Muslim babies/assist gynecological surgery in the year 2002.  if you say you have never witnessed Muslim intolerance in Dearborn, well, maybe their intolerance only comes out on the maternity ward?

it was an eye opening experience i will never forget.

one of the OB/GYN faculty there, a Muslim woman, was even let go from her job, for getting busted for bringing in Muslim women intro the country via Canada, illegally, to have their baby in an American hospital.

i have noticed you always jump to Dearborn's defense, whenever anyone mentions it negatively.  why is that?

I have noticed that whenever anyone here has in-depth personal experience about almost any issue, they tend to react in ways contrary to the mob.  Its almost as if the mob is full of shit, and needs input from someone who has a clue from time to time.

I have also noticed that for every person who reads such input, and adds to a little nuance to their world view, there are 2 or three that call for the torches and pitchforks to run out the interloper who dares contradict the all-knowing mob.

am not calling for pitchforks.  it just seems that the gentleman's posts have an attacking/defensive quality towards other posters' experiences, some of whom themselves have a contrary opinion, after their own significant experience.  there are at least 2 other posters here w/ a different opinion of Dearborn than he, & my limited but first-hand experience was eye opening.  it was a backwards, closed, hostile culture.  so much so that in some cases emergency medical care could not be provided, without significant delay after security was called.

to be sure, strange/pathological/counter-productive patient behavior occurs w/ some regularity in medicine, but not with the concentration/frequency i saw w/ my own eyes there.

it still stands out in my mind, 12 years later.

i was thinking similar thoughts as i watched the demonstration in the video, & the parallels we are seeing here in the US w/ regards to Ferguson.  an arrest of a member of the group results in mass protests, w/ violent rhetoric, veiled threats, & escalation to actual violence.

different groups, interesting parallels.

Or, the vast majority of GD who have never lived among Muslims and may have - at best - been deployed with the military to a region where there was - by basic logic - a serious problem with extremists, and fancy themselves experts on all of Islam.

Heck, the thread on the slaughter in Pakistan this week featured as much vitriol toward the victims as to the perpetrators. But, in GD logic, the entire attack must have been a false flag operation in the name of taquito.

Wow calling the kettle black. I have read countless posts by you from dozens of threads in regards to this over the years. You have not once even came close to having a clue. I continue to have hope but it seems over the years you become more of an apologist and have abandoned any basic understanding on the topic.

Good post. The appeal of ISIS is to middle class established Muslims who are very "Westernized" by prior objective standards, not just Islamic Rage Boy.

Its a fascinating dynamic. Similar to Bolshevism in the 1920s.

The "fight club" dynamic is no doubt part of it, but I think there is more.

My experience with Mexican Americans is that first Gen and illegals are just glad to be here. The ones who join la raza (or voice similar resentment of the US) have generally been here 2 or more generations.

There's a lot of that, identity is a funny thing.  People want to find their roots, and the crazies are actively recruiting, and appealing to that emotion. See also:  the IRA thing in the '70s. When an actual effective program to screen the Muslim population is in place - like what the NYPD had - it gets exposed and the screams of racism echo through the streets.  Like in most issues, nobody is allowing room for sanity.  Liberals accept all of the derpiest derp as simply "Islam" and decry attempts to limit it as religious discrimination.  Conservatives often  agree with the former, and only disagree with the latter.  The few places I have seen sane and effective policies against Islamist crazies have been in majority Muslim countries. Liberals are unwilling or afraid to draw a line, Conservatives deny there is a line.

I guess that is another parallel with the Mexican immigrant thing - sane policies of work visas and enforcement are impossible as long as there is political hay to be made.

No, you can see it in Dearborn Michigan any time you want to go there.
The Saudis donate huge amounts of money to universities. The majority of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis. Some of the 9/11 terrorists received pilot trainng at OU.
A few years ago a Muslim convert blew himself up outside a University of Oklahoma football game by the premature explosion of an IED he was carrying.
OU called it a suicide but his Saudi room mate and Muslim mentor left the country the very next morning.
Muslims are just regular people?
I see the Muslim workd really screaming about the ISIS atrocities NOT.
Trust Muslims at yiur own risk.

No, the Saudis are buying it with our money. The largest exchange of wealth has in human history has occurred with the Saudis - from our wallet to theirs.
They own news media, Cogressmen and Senators, and the current US President. Why do they need to use force?

To be fair, the Pak military and ISI has always been very comfortable with "their" extremists, happy to think that our complaints about proxy forces and nuclear armed neighbors being a bad combination was just our stupid misunderstanding.

Of course, no one wants children to be targeted. However, the duplicity of the Pak government WRT to extremism is pretty well documented at this point.

I've never made any claims it was black/white in Pakistan. What I've always said about Pakistan is that it's a country at war with itself. Pakistan government was generally OK with the Taliban in Afghanistan - and it's really no surprise the Afghan Taliban has apparently come out against this latest attack.  Alas, now they are coming to grips with a very serious issue domestically, and those who don't want it are going to have a fight.  Some here would deny there is any fight, and I seriously wonder if they comprehend that the children just killed were probably all Muslim.

What I have done is posted pictures of Catholic Churches in countries where the GD experts have insisted it was illegal to be Christian, pointed out examples of majority Muslim countries where Islamist political parties received less support than Right Sector in Ukraine, etc.  This really, really pisses some people off, as broad brushes are best brushes.  They won't rest until their superior logic has convinced every Muslim currently fighting this terrorist epidemic comes to the conclusion that they are wrongly practicing their faith, embrace the Jihadist derp, and declare war on the Westerner Infidels.

Eventually the protesters in that video will get what they're begging for, and they'll lose.   The sad part is it's going to require us to be more barbaric than they are to finish the job in any way that doesn't need re-doing in 10 years.  Where is Ender when you need him?

Your natural optimism is leading you to an unlikely conclusion.

The most likely turn of events is; we do nothing: they win.

We have a tendency to let people push us until we're really really angry.

yah...they forget that this is a repetition of the past, and look how they fared then.  Western civilization is super efficient at killing massive numbers of people.  We just don't like to do it until forced to.  Then, woe unto those who have pushed that far.

Why would we want to import these problems(in red), and a culture that has been antagonistic towards the west for 1300 years?  The world is full of people that are partially westernized, or share complimentary cultural traits, and our unemployment is still high.

In case you haven't been paying attention, we already are importing those problems.  What we aren't importing is the solutions that have proven effective at dealing with them.

I have little sympathy for any European country dumb enough to let large numbers of muslims immigrate into their country when they know full well that the muslims WILL NOT assimilate into their mainstream culture and will only cause big time problems of all sorts.

Sort of like another country I know that has opened its southern border wide open under the leadership of its marxist-socialist president.

So, are you ready for Spanish to become a second official language?  It will happen just as soon as they have the numbers.

So, are you ready for total democratic control of the presidency, congress and supreme court?  It will happen just as soon as they have the numbers.

And the  numbers are changing in their favor every single day.
