So Sony it's executives not having a singe ball between them, has folded like a deck of cards and puled "the interview" because of a bunch of empty threats by a feckless despotic half state with no actual ability to project power, but what if they hadn't? What if they weren't a bunch of ballless wonders and told North Korea to go fuck itself and North Korea did pu off some kind of half assed attack on theaters? A couple of branwashed spies don North Korean Uniforms and burst in to theaters guns blazing, what is the response? Obviously it can never happen now, and it as unlikely then, and almost makes a good thriller plot
 , but what would have happened?

I don't understand why Sony hasn't just destroyed every networked computer in NK on its own already.
It's fucking Sony... their IT budget is probably bigger than North Korea's entire economy.

Independent tech investigators tracked the hack to California. North Korea didn't do shit. It was a publicity stunt for a shitty movie that would have completely bombed otherwise.

As head of sonys 100's of millions of dollars I would have offered a few million bounty on his head after the initial threats. I wouldn't even wait for anything to happen.

The purpose of a corporation is to make money so someone, likely dozens of someones, did a complete risk analysis and the numbers came down on the side of the not releasing the movie.
44 million isn't a day's worth of sales to Sony. A couple of theaters attacked by lone wolf terrorist would have resulted in millions of dollars defending and paying lawsuits and a "blame" of Sony by Sony's media competitors. The shit storm afterwards would be death of the Sony brand. Companies shouldn't have to do battle against countries. But they have to - Chinese and Russian hackers are attacking US companies intellectual property via the Internet every minute of every day. |
