if anyone can find a working video of Bond- Kashmir that would be awesome, all I could find is another female group covering their cover.

Not sure if this has been posted yet.  SRV's Little Wing blows away Jimi's version.  Speaking of chills, I can listen to this song 10 times in a row, on good speakers, and it gives me chills every time.

This is the original cover song that became a bigger hit than the original.  You kids pay attention and respect your elders.

IIRC Trent Reznor said that the Cash version was so good he doesn't feel the song is his anymore.

SRV was truly one of the greats.  It's safe to say that nobody could, or ever will, make a Strat sing like he could.

I'm going to have to disagree on this one, but to be fair, the original reminds me of my dad (R.I.P.) so I might be a bit biased.

Sepultura cover, not really pavarotti , but fun

I like this one but many really seem to hate it. I just like covers and to me it does not have to mimic the original completely. IF it pays any homage it is good enough for me.

Absolutely, if it sounded exactly like the original, why not just listen to the original?

Better? IDK, you judge.  a 17 year old Kansas girl wishing for escape, or a quarter ton Hawaiin wishing for escape.
The original...

The cover.

Both invoke emotion, but two different kinds.  The first teen-age angst, the second just makes me cry.  Such talent, such a man, dead at 39.

VERY COOL cover. I've enjoyed this rendition the most of the several covers I've sampled so far from this thread. Buffet doing Southern Cross also gets an honorable mention.

The trend seems that the band does an exemplary job in bringing the music to life with a modern interpretation. Then the lead just utterly fails at matching the sonic power of the original vocalist. Godsmack/Good Times, Bad Times is a prime example.

And RUN if she starts singing it around the house to you.    This one was fittingly featured in Stalker, which has used several pretty good and creepy covers.

It's not a commercial cover, and while I still like the original, have to give these kids a shoutout.

ETA - I'm at work and did not listen to the video I posted, I'm just assuming it is the correct version and doesn't sound like crap.
