Newest Video:

Hello TFB Readers... I'm reformatting my post here to make this easier for newcomers...)

.....That you build with minimal tools required, and only a 35 day wait via E Forms.... And yes it sounds just as good as the SDN-6's I've shot on the same gun...

Specs:   (FYI: Tools, Parts, and Quick Build Overview in next post)

Weight: 17oz
Length: 8.6" (Tube is 7.6", large endcaps add .5" each, there are slimmer versions coming)
How To LINK

(Most of this video is under a roof, which makes it appear louder, the cell phone video (on the right) is more accurrate sounding.)

Shot at a different, more open location:

A little note on this video, my camera is propped up against a pipe, the supersonic rounds reverb on it as they pass over making a distinct noise, making it appear louder.

On an 11.5" 5.56...

The Tools I used....

Hand Drill
Belt Sander
Dremel Tool (Cut off wheels + engraving bit)
2x 6" C Clamps
2x 3" C Clamps
1x Crescent Qrench (for leverage on 6" C clamp)
Socket to Hold Freeze Plugs
SD Tactical Freeze Plug Centering Tool
1/8" Drill Bit
.25" Drill Bit
.370" Drill Bit
60 Degree Lathe Centering tool ($7 on grizzly's website)

Materials:
Freeze Plugs (specific item number found in Esstac's Thread)
Seamless 304 SS Pipe: 1.375" OD .049" Wall bought from Onlinemetals.com
SD Tactical Titanium 7.6" Tube
SD Tactical Aluminum center marked aluminum endcap
SD Tactical Aluminum Griffin adapter.

Process:

Freeze Plugs:
Using centering tool: Drill 1/8" hole into freeze plugs
Take 45 degree cone (look at esstac's thread to see where to get it) and using C clamp push it into the freeze plug to form 45 degree cone impression
Take 60 degree Cone, Press into freeze plug until the hole opens to around .370"
Take .370" Drill bit to each freeze plug to make sure the holes are all atleast .370"

Endcap:
Drill w/ .250" Drill bit through
Drill w/ .370" Drill bit through.

Spacer Material:

Using belt sander, reduce OD to fit into tube
Using Pipe Cutter, or dremel in my case, to cut spacers to sizes you've determined you want. Make one longer, so you can sand it down until everything screws together perfectly.

Internal Layout

Heat Study:

Part 1: Slow Firing 30 rounds....
Part 2: 30rd Mag Dump

Geeze, some days I hate this site.

I was contemplating form 1ing a .22 suppressor & biting the bullet to buy one for my .300.

Now I might have to think hard about doing a form 1 for this.

Have you shot .223 out of it?  Can it be multi caliber like the SDN-6?

Hmmm.  Time to get a trust together I think...

I saw that thread the other day, I was wondering how difficult it would really be for my skill set. I can assemble AR's and have milled my own 80% lowers, but that's about the limit of my abilities...

Third video is me putting a few rounds of 5.56 through it on an 11.5"

There is an adapter for Griffin "QD" mounts. So I've gone one of the .300 and 5.56.

I've done shot a bunch of 5.56 on the 11.5" through it fast, including mag dumps. It got really hot, and there was no issues.

The only tools I had at my disposal was stuff that EVERY should own. Esstac uses a press to form the baffles, and a drill press.

I used a hand drill for drilling, a 6" C-clamp w/wrench for more torque to form the baffles, and a belt sander to reduce the OD of the stainless pip I used for spacer material.

So what is the optimal size for a 300 aac, allowing for shooting supersonic?

I think as is its perfect. Its a little long, about 1" longer then the SDN6, but SD Tactical is coming out with lower profile endcaps, that are .2" thick. Making the titanium suppressor 8" OAL.

But the weight is awesome, I dont even notice it on the end of my .300, and there is NO impact shift on my .300.

Does this only work with griffin breaks or can you use the acc breaks?

Noone has made a AAC brake adator yet. It definitely is possible though.... and with all the popularity these are gaining, I wouldn't be surprised if they are available soon.

Right now SD Tactical offers Griffin adapters, an adapter for their muzzle brake, and direct thread on.

What info needs to be on the form 1?  Just the length and serial number?
Than you have to have the serial number engraved on the device yes?

Looks good for a subsonic blackout can. The baffles could be easily improved with a cutout at the aperture.

So that ebay tool that forms the plugs, turns out the guy lives a few hours south of me so I bought one. Now I just need a tube, the proper size drill bit and other end caps/mounts and i'm good to go. Need to submit the form as well. This should come along nicely.

so, I could do this, spend the $100-150 ish on parts, and another $100 on the muzzle break, and the $200 on the stamp, or just get a real suppressor for an additional $250...

You dont need the muzzle brake... and guess what... you need the $100+ muzzle brake for that suppressor too! Oh and the $50-100 transfer fee.

Oh and that whole 6+ month wait thing...

And where are you getting a Titanium Suppressor that can handle a decent amount of shooting, and not just slow fire on a bolt gun? For $350?

be gentle, I know jack about suppressors, but I thought I just saw a direct thread on 5.56 suppressor for $500ish on silencershop...

The designs I saw in that thread that I understood all seemed to need the muzzle breaks. I must be missing something.

I only joined the NFA game this week with my first approved SBR stamp, so Im still new at this stuff
