https://dsgarms.com/ktibaia0035 oddly the ar500 plates are actually about a pound lighter and better than 1/2 as much cost wise. <according to the posted specs> the dsg are steel/titanium. Brand name, they aren't really titanium. in that case they are overpriced for what they are. |

I'm in for one ...
I've been looking for a decent, and affordable, PC. Not a fan of the black, but for $50 I'm not afraid of breaking out the Krylon/stencils and getting creative . |

eh, thanks OP. I got a couple - why the heck not? Need some new plates now...

Armor newb here but doest it seem like these are a little short?
Is this the equivalent of a belly shirt for armor? I'm guessing I'm totally off base on this or someone would have pointed this out already... |

When I checked back around 7pm I recall seeing 175 so at least 10 - 15 were sold that day. Combined with yesterday's activity I would bet they sold north of 160 units to ARFCOM alone. Crazy. |

The only thing holding me back is the color. I think I saw a Banshee in Coyotee for $119. Trying to decide if I want to invest in black and have a mismatched set of gear.

What is the difference between ceramic plates and the AR500 steel plates for protection?

Ceramic is lighter but more prone to damage from being dropped.

Wouldn't the PAXCON coating accomplish the same thing? yes it does and very well. steel is marginally heavier realistically but in it's rating will absorb hundreds of hits vs ceramic being compromised to failure after a couple. then again if your getting hit hundreds of times.... you need a new plan. the real benefit to steel is for those of us that won;t have resupply of new plates if SHTF and you actually need them. they don't get damaged with drops or rough handling. i have and have run both. to be very honest i don;t notice a significant weight difference between them. that said i don;t wear mine more than a few hours at a time at best. carrying them all day with a lot of other gear would like make a huge difference. |

ARFCOM once again helping me spend my money. I've been wanting a plate carrier for a while and started buying pouches for one. Of course all of my pouches are in tan, but as long as it's well made, who cares if it doesn't match? Now to save up for plates and the rest of the gear.

I always thought the steel coated stuff would work well, plus wouldnt your carrier help slow any spall down that managed to penetrate the coating? Maybe I am under thinking things here....if all else fails, tactical CAMO duct tape as another layer
