So let me get this straight, a guy makes a comment during an apparently private conversation with another individual, and abstractly expresses a personal opinion, and he gets publically crucified and forced to sell his professional sports team franchise.

And another guy violently assaults someone - documented violent physical domestic battery, perhaps attempted murder or it could have resulted in involuntary manslaughter if she fell the wrong way - it was all caught on camera, and he gets a complete pass?

One, this is blatant reverse racism.  And secondly, fuck the NFL.

Goodell fucked up by trying to sacrifice Rice to the PC gods after his shitty 3-game suspension ruling blew up in his face.  He made a new rule and then went WAY overboard in his attempt to prove that he wasn't going too soft on wifebeaters.
Blame Goodell, not racism, in either direction.

Wait, I thought this was a case of a man defending himself against a woman who attacked first.

Isn't this about reverse sexism???!!!

The point is Rice was punished once already. That's when the NFL blew it; it wasn't harsh enough. You don't go back and punish again for the same thing. But here's the kicker... He doesn't have a team and who would pick him up with all the baggage? Coaches don't like controversy and he will bring lots of it with protests, news stories, etc.

Rice is toast. I doubt he'll play again anyway.

There was more anger at NFL commissioner than at Rice himself. "We need a white guy to blame for this ... find someone! Hurry!"

No such thing as reverse racism, that's a fucking dumb term I wish people would stop using.  And fuck Ray Rice I want them to let Hardy back...

This. The NFL screwed up, both in the original punishment (too light), and then by going full retard and banning Rice after they had already changed their policy to a six game suspension for domestic violence issues.

Exactly

Commissioner should have admitted that they went too light in the original punishment, but that the punishment had already been carried out and that they can't punish him a second time for an error on their part.

You may not like Rice or what he did, but calling the situation racist or bullshit is just ignorant.

Rice should be re-instated. If you want to hate someone, hate whatever team picks him up, if any.

But on that same note, charges weren't pressed. He technically wasn't convicted of anything. How many jobs out there will you lose if there is no conviction?

The Dolphins should pick him up. The fair weather fans would forget all about his past as long as he doesn't fumble.
