This year, I brined a whole bird overnight and smoked it for four hours. About to cut it.

We have ham and turkey this year, lots of family over, and are grateful to have it.

I agree with you 100%. Turkey is an inferior meat. Hell, if it was so good Colonel Sanders would be Kentucky frying it instead of the glorious chicken.

What's wrong with Turkey?

IMO, it's damn tasty meat.

I friggin HATE turkey. It's bred with steroids completely out of all reason and out of all flavor. I'd rather eat the cardboard box it was shipped in.

Hear you out? Why? Why on earth would I give a f**k what you eat for Thanksgiving. We eat Turkey because it's "traditional", and we like it. Eat what you want.

Now that I think about it, because hunting cows, lobsters and shrimp with a shotgun/rifle/bow is frowned upon.

Lol, I made lasagna this year!  I only like smoked turkey (never had fried) but since I don't have a smoker or fryer, I'd rather eat something else. More for my wife & in-laws....

Stuffing and gravy needs turkey. That's why.

Perhaps a couple of months of hard labor in the stuffing mines of Planet Plymouth might help the OP, and some of you others, see the error of his ways.....

What is "Beige Day" you ask?  Open face turkey sandwich on white bread, covered in gravy, with mashed potatoes and butter.

You left out the dressing.

I did a roast chicken, I only had to feed two people and turkeys are way too big.

I make a turkey dinner for my family. My sons like it very much. It's one of their favorites so I do go out a bit overboard when Thanksgiving comes around. When my whole family used to get together in years past, it would be the previously mentioned plus a great number of Italian dishes and a variety of salads and pastries. I guess it really doesn't matter whats being offered to answer your initial question as opposed to the celebratory meaning of giving thanks to the bounty that has been afforded to this nation. It goes a bit further with me in regards to the warm gathering of friends and family, the relaxation before the onset of winter, the ending of my leaf battles with (damn) oak trees, and closing my day with a Pepsi, on the rocks of course.
