With a 100 yd zero, it's 10 inches low at 200.
Energy is down to ~900 ft pounds. Seems better inside 150 yards, but that's just plugging numbers into a calculator. |

Product site says handgun hunters should try to get velocity to 2500 FPS.

Does anyone here have any idea of how many deer have been taken in this country with the Lever Action 30-30 rifle shooting bullets of very similar, almost identical weigh/velocities/energies? the mid weight bullet in the 300BLK at 1800-1900 is basically duplicating 30-30 ballistics... I'm jus sayin'.

I'm jus sayin'. Indeed, 30/30 is a decent short range woods gun. Like the load OP is contemplating, and based on ft/lbs and trajectory it may fit better inside 200 yds. Just sayin. |

you are going to have a bitch of a time getting the bullet to open properly.. its made for a faster impact speed that the Blk can provide..

Even out of a bolt gun with a compressed load ?? ya.. if you think about it.. that was built with the .308 in mind. 2600 ish MV so impact speed at 100 is in the 2400 ish area. where with the Blk it will hop out at 1900 ish. with a 100 at 1700 ish. at that speed the bullet will if lucky flatten to diameter, due to jacket nose thickness. to get it to really pop you need to go thinner on the jacket and flatter on the meplate.. 30-30 bullets work in that speed range due to the thinner jacket construction (pistol thicknesses), flat lead exposed nose. But the Blk really doesn't like the shape of 30-30 bullets too much. |

I think I'm going to have to work up a 150gr FMJ target load for my .300blk.
My existing loads are too expensive to plink with. |
