Love me some Glock but carry an FNX as EDC for this reason.
Of course this can also work against you if bad guy gets gun away from you. |

And that's why I want a second strike option on my pistol. Glock would have worked on the first trigger pull Not necessarily. If anyone had their hand on the slide, and it had any bit of rearward pressure on it, it would be "out of battery," and thus, would not fire. |

My glock did not go off the first time I pulled the trigger when I had a suspect on top of me choking me, and it was not out of battery either. I had to raise it above my head with his hand still trying to grab it, rack it with my other hand, then shoot downwards at him. Never really figured out why it didn't fire.

It most certainly would have fired after Brown released the slide. |

if you read the testimony, Brown was pushing the gun down towards the officers body...gun was out of battery

I just wanted to point out that I have had an instance of a Glock not working the first time. I don't know if it was a bad round, but Speer Gold Dot is not known for bad rounds. I originally had the gun at my stomach, so I could see the slide, it did not appear out of battery, I also heard the distinctive click of the striker going off, as did the suspect. |

The second strike capability of a DA/SA pistol is a fine option in a handgun. In this case it may have saved Wilson's life.

Speer Gold Dots do enjoy a stellar reputation for reliability, but nobody is 100%. I had a bad one 3 weeks ago, so it does happen, however exceedingly rare it is. |

Luckily, my stakes weren't as high as yours since I was just target shooting during those times. I've never had that problem with any other round through that gun or with any of my other Glocks. I just no longer carry 175 gr. Silvertips in that G29. |

Anyone recal the two British soldiers killed by the IRA, one of them had a pistol and there was a photo of him, standing on the roof of his car aiming at the mob.
He kept pulling the trigger and nothing happened so the mob beat the two of them and then executed them both, wwith his pistol after the killed did a tap, rack, bang drill. As for revolvers, many years ago I was talking to an LAPD gunsmith who said he only saw two guns fail, both were revolvers, in one the officer was thrown against a cinder block wall the the cylinder was tweaked in the frame enough to bind up solid, in the other case the officer hit the suspect with his pistol during a struggle and the trigger guard bent enough to lock the trigger. Nothing is fool proof. |
