Some idiot in Hollywood was getting stoned and thought, "Woah...man...what if we combined Jurassic Park with Alien..."

I think the story was that InGen got bought out by another genetics company, and they continued the work.

And made a genetically engineered dino thinking they could control it when all previous attempts to control any dino failed.

Got it.

Looks like the new company was able to get the dinos under control, as shown by the functional park.
Then they get arrogant.

Wiki says Vincent Dinofrio is in it.  They could throw ARFCOM and Kubrick fans a bone by having him fight dinos in a jelly donut bakery while shooting an M-14.

And that's pretty sad, considering the first movie came out in 1993 according to IMDb

Twenty one freaking years ago.

I do not know, you can only buy into the premise that the plot was a bad idea to build an amusement park around previously extinct dinosaurs only so many times. To constantly rehash the plot of trying "one more time" to make it a go gets old and repetitive.

I do not doubt that one bit. Constant reboots of movie franchises like Superman, Spider-man and now this, rely on the next generation of teenage to twenty somethings to pack the theater and be inamorata with it like we were with the original. It is just us that remember the original in 1993 and the subsequent sequels, this current film brings nothing new other than new faces shitting their pants when an escape dinosaur is looking to eat them.

Star Wars is coming out December 18th, so with nearly two weeks of play time, it might eclipse any other film that year easily.

For example, opening weekend, The Avengers made $207... we can expect at least that from Star Wars. I'm expecting at least $400 by the end of the year for this movie... Of course, we've had a really stale year this year, so if that trends we might be looking at Jurassic World making only $250 or 300.

"Chris Pratt’s character is doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren’t trained, they can’t do tricks. He’s just trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings. If people don’t think there’s potential in those ideas, maybe they won’t like this movie. But I ask them to give it a chance."

The first day on set we had a little pep talk from one of the directors.  he said this movie was going to be a hit and he personally
did not want it to suck like 2 and 3 did. We looked at each other like " did he just knocked 2 and 3 saying they sucked"?
