Hahha, AWESOME NAVY! We LOVE you brother. So damn proud of our Navy out there keeping the life lines of this nation safe with such dominance every day. Thank god for every Sailor! Anchors away my brother! . Salt of the earth. Would buy a beer for a US Navy sailor anywhere on earth at any time I met them. Best people God ever made. |

I can remember when I was in your shoes. Are they still doing DEP stuff? What would "DEP stuff" be? Delayed Entry Program ETA: You get a chance to prep for boot, that kind of stuff I did not participate in the DEP program, I worked until the night before I shipped. Do participate as much as you can, I ran a recruiting office, don't mistake what you see in a recruiting office for what the Navy is really like, recruiters are busy doing their mission - finding people to man the Navy. |

<-Graduated from Great Lakes in 2006.
Get ready to freeze baby, that place is ICE cold in the winter. Lots of marching coming and be good at going from standing at attention and then transitioning to stand at ease every 10 minutes for 3 straight hours because someone did not fold their socks correctly. They will do this to you for about 3 straight hours, or until someone in your division passes out while standing up. You get to write home on Sunday's and the food is not bad. You will find yourself caring more than you have ever cared before about the most worthless simple task. You will care because you are sick of standing at attention or doing pushups or marching. Memorize ranks and the top chain of command from the potus all the way down to the CO of Great Lakes BEFORE you get there. I sure would have been in better shape if I would have done that. If I could go back to 2006, I would have gone AF and tried for a combat air controller. I think I could have wrote my ticket after my tie was up with that qual. ETA, I see that you have a summer ship date, so the cold won't be a worry. |
