She's right!

Great Danes are the biggest (no pun intended) chick magnet dogs ever!

I take mine for a walk and cars stop and turn around to ask about her.  They have a very outgoing personality too which means they like going up to strangers for attention.  Instant conversation starters.  A huge dog gets a lot of attention and is very memorable. I've met quite a few chicks taking my Dane with me places.

Alright hive, I'm considering getting another pup. My last was an oversized cocker spaniel but my old man backed over him a lil over a year ago I still miss my buddy but would like another.

So what do yall suggest? By the time I get the little fella, I'll be living off campus in Lubbock so a large breed probably wouldn't be the best choice...  (not much space) plus above all, he's gotta be a chick magnet

I was talking about it with the hopeful future lady-friend and when I mentioned a corgie, she absolutely became the girliest I've ever seen her lol

So would a corgie be a decent choice?  Or is that not manly enough and cause the man card to be revoked?

Damn... this thread blew up fuckin fast....

So, if I'm reading it correctly,  it's either

1. German Shepherd
2. Golden Retriever
Or
3. Corgie

Personally, as unamerican as it sounds, I'm not much of a golden fan.... so it looks like it's between the GSD or a Corgie.... hmmmm this is not an easy decision lol

If you care about shedding, don't get a long haired breed in Texas. Our corgis were walking fur bombs.

Typically I think people find long haired dogs to be prettier/cuter. for example

husky
malamute
gsd
shelties
Pomeranian
etc

Google "cutest dog breeds"

We have a Brittany (spaniel) and he seems to get a lot of attention. But I would say he is too high energy for an apartment. High exercise requirements too.

ETA: I would think something like:

Bichon Frise

Poodle (if you groom him right)

Yorkshire Terrier or Cairn Terrier (or other similar terriers)

Labradoodle

Pug

Jack Russell Terrier

Beagle

I would say lab too if it wasnt for the size and shedding. Just too big for an apartment IMO.

Pretty much any small breed or puppy, even more so if it's a rescue dog. When I bring my Jack Russell mix out to the dog park, women always comment on how cute my "puppy" is. Even though he's 9 years old, and his face is solid white.

GSD. I was at Petsmart earlier and two FINE ass bitches were checking out myself and my White GSD.

Either that or they were thinking "who's that creepy guy with that weird ass dog?"

Bitches love my mini schnauzer. They're typically a little standoffish though. I'd go with a lab or mini bulldog.

GSD is a terrible idea for an apartment.

just remember, if you get a french bulldog, they have one of the higher vet bill lifetime expenses of any dog.  Friend has one, and that thing is always at the damn vet for something.

If you want a more robust dog, go with a spitz, and not a GSD unless you get one from a GOOD BREEDER with KNOWN BLOODLINES.

I'll go ahead and close this thread. Bennie the King Charles Cavalier. My wife and her friends call him the panty-dropper.

Hes the perfect size, 12.5lb, to be a lap dog and around the house. He can handle any amount of running I do and we do 2-4 miles a few times a week. Hes still a puppy but will hopefully gain a little weight as an adult. Hes badass.

Beagles are great except for the barking. I love them and had them my entire childhood. If I moved back to the country, I'd buy another one but never again in the burbs. I have a lab now and they shed too damn much. I love mine and she's very friendly, but the shedding is ridiculous. I have to sweep at least once a day.

Other than that, I'd say a short haired dog. Great Danes are supposed to be ok in apartments but I don't know. I wouldn't want another Great Dane pup if I lived in an apartment. We had one when we lived on two acres with a 5 acre field we had access too and he still knocked everything over. I'd probably go with a German Shepard. They have a noble look to them when they are well trained. They have an intimidation factor and are good guard dogs.

This.   Everyone notices a Great Dane.  Its hard not to with a dog the size of a small horse.  You'll get more attention and questions with a Dane than anything else.
