Authorities say two uniformed officers encountered the man, who was not immediately identified, between the seventh and eighth floors of a dimly lit stairwell during a vertical patrol in the Pink Houses on Linden Blvd. near Eldert Ln. in East New York at 11:15 p.m.
One cop then fired a single shot, hitting the man in the chest, officials said. View Quote Update on page 4 |

Not good timing to have a questionable shooting......
(Not that there is EVER a good time, but this is particularly bad timing) |
|
Coulda been worse. They could have just wounded him. Think of the medical bills from that.
|
|
At least 236 witnesses have already come forward, saying that the dead man was surrendering and begging for his life when he was shot.
|
|
|
Only one shot AND he hit his target? This really is an isolated incident.

I call it, 1 shot, no NYPD is capable of doing a one-shot kill... nope didn't happen, Only possibility is the guy heard the shot and had a heart attack

It always struck me what a rough gig being a housing cop must be.
Patrolling a dimly lit staircase ... good luck with that |
|

So a NYPC cop fires once, actually hits what he intended to shoot and the guy dues from a center of mass shot? I'm calling bullshit. |

The cop chased the guy round a deadend corner, saw the guy standing and pulled the trigger by mistake. If he would have aimed, he would have needed the whole magazine to get a lethal hit. |

At least 236 witnesses have already come forward, saying that the dead man was surrendering and begging for his life when he was shot. There's at least one witness. They had just entered the stairwell when the fatal shot was fired, hitting Gurley in the chest, she said.
“He didn’t do nothing wrong," said Melissa Butler, Gurley's girlfriend. "He was just standing there and they shot him. He was an innocent man.” |

This is why body cams need to be standard equipment now. They can really help a cop in a case like the Ferguson one. |

View Quote Clear and convincing evidence that this was not actually an NYPD officer, but obviously a professional hitman imposter who was actually trained and proficient in shooting and used something with a trigger pull weight measurable in units smaller than metric tonnage. |

View Quote View Quote Linden blvd is a complete no mans land, I drove that street while doing rotations at brookdale hospital. We had a few students mugged and and one assualted on the way to the hospital from the subway, multiple car break ins was a constant for the employee's. There was always other crazy stuff happening in that ER. I never stopped my car from parkway until I got to the hospital parking lot. Very rough area. People throw bricks off the top of buildings at cops in that area. I commend any officer of the NYPD who must work that area. I prey they stay safe. |

as previously stated, as long as not in broad daylight and as long as they don't leave said body laying out on the stairs for hours, should blow over.
