How come these idiots feel the need to voice their stupid opinions?
I assume he though what he said was fucking brilliant and insightful.

Prob a couple of dems and were picking up a shotgun because Biden told them it was good for home defense, just a couple shots in the air and all of your problems go away.

Yeah, well, fuck those guys. If they want to be free of "normal guns" they should go to a Fudd shop. I know a few around here that deal in less....modern....firearms.

I have told the story here before about the guy standing at the counter, bemoaning all of the ARs and AKs he could see on the rack in front of him..."Them guns are IMPRACTICAL...Ain't nobody got a PRACTICAL use or need for no guns like that".
While he filled out paperwork to order a GOLD...DESERT EAGLE...in 50 AE. |

Funny because it's been many years since I have hunted with anything besides an ar. Except bird hunting of course. ARs are by far the most commonly used hunting rifles in my safe.
|

Wife and I are getting into bird hunting next year, and stepping up our bow hunting game. Gun shop guys probably think I'm a Fudd.
I miss the days of owning Barretts and a bunch of ARs. |

Talk to them like they are stupid. That's my favorite approach. More or less pretend like that just asked you a question like, "Is it normal for people to wear pants when they go outside?" Acting genuinely confused by the question followed by a bit of condescension will generally make them reflect to a degree that has them asking "am I the oddball one here?"
|

It's too bad that some folks can't be objective or realistic about the wants and needs of others.

Sounds a lot like my days, damn Barrett and their dealer pricing crap for margin in them eh.

I really don't give 2 shits what people around me are buying, someone is always buying something different.

Would the FUDDs been more comfortable if those other transactions were handled behind the shop, in the shadows and with whispers?

In my experience, the Fudds are the most anti-gun of all. Even worse than non gun owning anti-gunners. I've known way too many shotgun only owners that had disdain for any firearm that was black. EVIL BLACK.

I was at a fudd range a month or two back shooting when I over heard this guy talking to an older couple next to me about how people shouldn't even need to shot more than a few rounds at the range. He basically said you should only come to the range to check your zero, then leave. He said something along the lines of "I don't know why a box of ammo couldn't last you an entire year." Funny thing was this guy wasn't even shooting, he was just walking up and down the firing line and spotted the old couple shooting their hunting rifles and decided to talk to them. Wasn't a RO, and had a visitor badge. I was under the assumption he was the type of guy that would like the range to be shut down. It's like owning guns for your protection, or recreational shooting doesn't exist. . View Quote WA? What is this "range" thing you speak of? |

I was going to say, hunt with a real gun? My M1A is a real gun. The deer didn't know the difference between a .30 caliber bullet from the 742 or the M1A.
If I start groundhog/varmint hunting next year (gave it up years ago) I'll use one of my ARs most of the time and the M700 just for old times sake. Now I wouldn't take my 8 shot M37 grouse hunting though, the 5 shot version works just fine for grouse. Who needs a 3.5" 12 ga. for geese? How many geese have been killed with 2&3/4" 12 guns before the 3" and 3.5" gun where made? Reminds me of that story about the guy in Alabama that deer hunted with a .458 Winchester magnum because a 30.06 just won't kill deer. Or my buddy at home (many years ago) that traded off a beautiful little Browning 20 ga. semi-auto because it just wouldn't kill a turkey. He shot that gobbler 5 times with 3" magnum #4 shot and it just ran off. Yeah, right. |

Have a older couple come in looking for shotguns Man's son had convinced him he needed a 3.5" gun for goose and I was happy to oblige While he was looking at the various models I laid out for him another gentleman came in saying he had heard we have a Barrett M107 in Tan I place it on the counter and the couple looking at shotguns look like this A few minutes later and I am bouncing back and forth between the two Another gentleman comes in wanting a mini-14 while he looks at a new mini he states he wants an AR but cannot afford one I show him a Patrolman's Carbine he sees that it is less than the Mini and decides to buy it again the couple looks like About that time guy figures he needs the M107 and we start paperwork for that also couple still being kinda frowny but still looking at shotguns While shotgun couple are still handling a few shotguns and the other 2 guys are doing 4473s A older gentleman with a cane comes walking in asks about a Glock 42 , after a minute he asks if we take trades I answered yes and he said well i have a Glock 27 but it is on me and I did not want to whip it out ( normally our policy on this is to send them out to their vehicle to clear the weapon so if they have a AD its not our problem , customers , property , employees etc I'm sure some here in GD will have some sort of problem with that) This guy is old and has a cane plus parking lot is still icy in spots I wasn't gonna send him outside , So I asked him if he could lay it safely on the counter and allow me to clear it , which I did At this point shotgun guy looked like this shotgun wife was looking and acting like this http://i58.tinypic.com/qzja7p.jpg they then stormed out after he exclaimed " Don't anyone buy real guns for hunting like a normal person anymore ?" so pretty much a normal afternoon with a dash of Fudd drama View Quote |

My local favorite gun shop (about 10 miles from me) advertises on the radio, newspaper ads, t-shirts and sales cards "politically incorrect firearms" with a 1919A4 logo. They have a constantly full parking lot and full counter and their full auto range is always full (have to wait for a bench) with burps of "fun gun" fire (they rent class 3 guns too). Every time I'm there they are doing plenty of business. Contrast this with the local fud gun shop a few miles from me, all hunting rifles and bows. Owner doesn't deal in "black or high cap guns". His shit is new old stock from 1995 (by the looks of it), dust covered and he has to work a "day job" and is only open odd hours because his shop can't float on its own. And this is in the heart of rural hunting country where the first day of buck is a holiday and schools are even closed here in this part of PA. The times they are a changin'..... View Quote I don't think the gun shops local to me carry anything but handguns and black rifles. If you want a .22, bolt action rifle, or not benelli pump shotgun, you hit the Bass Pro, or Sporting Goods stores. Though Bass Pro has really expanded it's Black Rifle selection, but Dicks are still Dicks. |
