I've been really happy with my Streamlight Style Pro and PT2AA, one runs AAA one runs AA.  Bright, functional without a hitch.

Stylus Pro is only on/off and more of a pen light.  PT2AA is high/strobe/low with momentary and press for mode on the tail cap.

There's even a usb one they make now which is cool.

This is what I carry as a back up light on duty. I'm really impressed by this light. I ended up buying 5 of them. I carry one clipped in my pocket, one on my SWAT vest, one in my bail out bag, and keep 2 at home for spares. At $45 bucks, I'm not gonna be heartbroken if I do lose one or find a way to break it if that's possible.

I carried a Solarforce L2t for two years (carrying a SF A2 aviator tonight), best light I have ever bought.

Although definitely not as good as others, my daily-carry is a Bushnell 125 Lumen from walmart for $19.97.   Single AA battery keeps it going for 50 hours (alkaline, I run lithium).  It's only 125 lumens, but it's compact, has a red light to keep my night vision and can just pop in AA batteries if I need to redo it.   A few others I wanted only took 123's.

I've had a Nextorch T6 for 5 years now that has never failed me, had it mounted on a 12ga for several hundred rounds as well and it never missed a beat.

*mine has the LED upgrade bulb as well...

For only 22 bucks, it's pretty hard to beat the SolarForce T1 - It's surprisingly compact for a light that can accept a 18650 rechargeable cell (will also run on a pair of ordinary CR123 cells), and has a nice spread of brightness settings.

SolarForce has great quality for the money, and ships for cheap (around 2 bucks).

I bought this light because of this thread (and your link...thanks). all I can say is Wow... great light... super bright, $24 shipped  and showed up in a little over a week...
Build quality on it is very well... blows doors on the Fenix E35 I have that is comparable.

Go get a Solarforce L2 (AKA P60 clone). That way in one year when LED technology advances you'll be able to drop in a new LED and won't have to buy a new body.

My EVERYDAY light is actually the 85-lumen, 1-AA Energizer "Tactical" light from Advance Auto Parts.

It sells for $20. I used a coupon code to get it for $14. It's bright, reliable and sturdy... and AA batteries are evertwhere. It's been rock-solid for the four months that I've owned it. If I had to register ONE complaint, it would be that the anodized finish is a bit thin. Some raised edges had started to show a bit of "shine" pretty early. If I end-up losing it, I'll just crack for another one.

Fenix PD22 can be had for just under $50 sans shipping.

Mine has survived the laundry twice

It has 4 brightness settings. 200 lumens is great for lighting up sketchy people, but the lower settings are more usable day to day.

The more I EDC, the more I find myself going towards smaller stuff. Both knife, gun and flashlight wise. I started out carrying a pd32/surefire g2x. Great lights but batteries are expensive and hard to find plus I don't like the bulk.

Maratac AA @ $32.95 This one is the Rev II. (125 lumens on high for 90minutes and .25 on low)

New Maglight tactical lights.

Three settings,

Hi beam
Low beam
Strobe

I like them because they take AAA batteries.

Carry mine all the time.

Buy them for under $35 I think.......

I have carried the fenix Ld10 for 2 or 3 years now. It is flawless.  I have a thing for AA lights because the batteries are so easy to find.  When I replace it I think that will still be a requirement.

Mines been going on 4 years.. I gave it to my wife to carry in her purse... great light, and I agree with the AA lights, nice to be able to pick up a battery when I'm out traveling vs.  a rechargeable.

Flashlights are finally coming down to the reasonable range, thanks to heavy competition. A freakin milled aluminum tube, a reflector, and a CREE LED and they are nearly disposable items that can be picked up at Lowes. The tactical flashlight emperor now has no clothes.

I'm going to get that clip. Mine bends a little from time to time. I just keep bending it back. But I've been carrying my Preon 2 for two years now. Love it. My most used flashlight out of ... probably 30 flashlights.

If you gotta have a single AA light, the SolarForce Z2 is definitely worth considering, especially for just 16 bucks.

Has a tough HA-III finish, and 4 brightness levels that range all the way from 120 lumens to 4 lumens. Battery life on the lowest brightness setting is 50 hours.
